It is possible that the debate is not about the AWB, but I tend to doubt with 13 working days left until blood in the streets and AK47s run amok. Or whatever VPC propaganda you’re partial to.

13 working days untill an extension to the ban becomes impossible, as congress goes home to get re-elected. The ban expires on Sep 13th, and the NRA will endorse Bush on the 14th, assuming nothing untoward happens in the next 13 working days.
