Kerry on taxes

Tom has created a nifty little spreadsheet where you can enter your AGI and figure out what the Bush tax cuts saved you err if Kerry will raise your taxes. It’s neat. It does assume that Kerry will stick to his campaign promise of only raising taxes on the top income bracket.

Nice touch with the strikethrough, but remember that most of “what the Bush tax cuts saved you” was the result of riders tacked on by Democrats, for most people. If I remember correctly, the Bush tax cuts as originally proposed did virtually nothing for people with AGIs under $100,000 per year.

(Besides which, much of what you saved in federal taxes, you wind up paying in extra property taxes and other state taxes anyway…)

No, sorry, I haven’t paid any extra taxes to my knowledge. If you’d like find examples, please do. Sales tax: the same. Property taxes: same. Gas: same.

From what I can tell, Tennessee is one of the exceptions, insofar as they haven’t raised taxes (yet). But skyrocketing tuition and some of TennCare’s woes can be tracked to the cuts.

And then there’s the debt issue…

(And for what it’s worth, my property taxes DID go up here, but not by a huge amount…)

I have a difficult time calling what Bush did as a “tax cut”, they borrowed money and redistributed it. A tax cut makes it sound like it’s something other then a loan.

Oh, really? Several states have explicitly stated that their tax increases are a direct result of the loss of federal block grant dollars. They lying?

With the price of gasoline here in California – I am so glad Bush gave us a tax cut – otherwise Arnold would not be able to afford the gas to fuel his Hummer to get to work!

Georgia Legislator Bravely Defends Poon Tang
OK here is another truth stranger then fiction story from my former state of residence, Georgia. An amendment has been added to a bill that was introduced into the Georgia legislator that would outlaw involuntary genital mutilation, but only for…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
