Actually, it’s politician codespeak for appealing to racism. 🙂
Seriously, though, I wonder if you did a demographic study of NASCAR fans, what the typical NASCAR fan would look like. The stereotype is “Southern white male with at most a high-school education,” but one wonders how accurate the stereotype is. My brother is a huge NASCAR fan, and he fits half the demographic (he’s not Southern).

Yeah, i think the stereotype may fit to an extent. But conversely i have about 8 friends who have nine masters’ degrees between them that are nascar fans.
