They’re losing

Looks like the anti-gun group CeaseFireNJ, headed up by Bryan Miller, is having some financial problems, lost their domain name, and haven’t filled out an IRS Form 990 since 2000. Details here.

Remember when Educational Fund to Stop Gun Violence lost their office space and stopped paying employees?

And Maryland Ceasefire had similar issues.

Doesn’t seem like these guys are getting much support. Good.

The left will not win the gun issue with big, sweeping legislation. There will not be sustained high intensity support any time soon. Most people I know in NYC think guns should be illegal. None of them care about the issue enough to vote on it, lobby on it or donate on it.

And most are content to see NY be restrictive while letting other states be free (“If New Yorkers restrict guns in Tennessee, Tennesseeans restrict abortion in New York.”)

The exception is the older generation. I talk to old New York political establishment, and they go nuts about guns. They vote, they donate, they make phone calls, knock on doors, the whole thing. But my generation, not so much.

This is why the anti-gun strategy consists of lots of small restrictions coupled with taking advantage of tragedies. There’s not much traction for long, sustained campaigns. The gun grabbers just don’t have the resources to fight a war.

Where gun rights will lose, I think, is the battle of slow attrition. Each generation is scared of the everyday risks their parents didn’t even think about. Guns are scary and dangerous. Eventually, I think America will let all those small restrictions add up to a de facto ban in most places.

I’ve heard that rival companies can register the name of a company if they didn’t pay the state taxes, maybe we should start buying more domain names and have them redirect to say…here.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
