Meet the new boss

Politico:

Vice President Dick Cheney said Monday that President-elect Barack Obama will “appreciate” the expansions of executive power achieved during the Bush administration and is unlikely to cede authority back to Congress.

“Once they get here and they’re faced with the same problems we deal with every day, then they will appreciate some of the things we’ve put in place,” Cheney said during an interview on Rush Limbaugh’s radio show.

No kidding. And I wonder if all the Bush league champions will still be cool with all these powers once their guy isn’t driving the boat?

I’ve been harping on that for eight years.

“Hey, what happens when the other team gets to pick the illegal combatants and terrorist organizations?”

    Our enemy, the State.

Ditto what Tam and Uncle said–I really think the neocons thought Rove was right when he said they were going to rule for a generation. I really don’t think the reality that Obama or Hillary might be the next prez ever really set in until about…October 2008. The quote unquote REAL Republicans got screwed by the Bush Cheney power hungry “what’s conservatism again, Boss?” wing of the party.

A whole bunch of people (left & right) who failed to see that they are just as likely (if not more likely) to be a victim of government excess than they ever are going to be a victim of real terroristic violence (not the pedestrian crap that DAs have started calling terrorism).

I wonder who is the better terrorist, the ignorant goat herders who commit violence, or the handful of idiots who scream about it and get everyone else all worked up?

    Amen.

  6. Oldsmoblogger Says:

Well, it’s not like Rahm Emanuel invented the saying, “Never let a crisis go to waste” — he just did us the favor of saying so out loud.

  7. Tom Says:

are you implying that government never gets smaller and the only thing that really changes as the “two” parties alternate power is who the targets of giant invasive illegal government are?

    Nah, that’s crazy talk.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
