Radicals in the past

So, Palin said that Obama was palling around with terrorists. Because she’s racist. Nothing to do with Obama’s association with a man whose group set off bombs that killed police officers. And even though Obama’s first campaign was launched in this guy’s living room and he gave him a job, it’s just a loose association. Right?

Meanwhile, compare that to the treatment of the First Dude’s genuinely loose association with the AIP.

Brian V. McDonnell, before anyone quotes the breathless factcheckers certain the Weather Underground organization ‘only’ killed its own.

How the living hell do these people compare bombs to ballots? At the very least, it makes taking the day after Election day off from work a good idea for the GOP offices.

  2. Manish Says:

not you too..so lets review the facts. Ayers did a bunch of bad stuff forty years ago. He turned himself in, and then got educated, became a professor and expert on childhood education and a model citizen. Then Ayers got the Republican Walter Annenburg (Ambassador under Nixon, friend of Reagan) to fund a local non-profit to help school kids and they got Obama to be the chair. However, Obama working with this guy on helping school children suddenly makes him a bad guy. So what does that make Reagan or Nixon? Reagan and Nixon were friends with and appointed as Ambassador; Walter Annenburg who gave $50 million to Bill Ayers to help school children.

So what would Obama’s opponents be saying if he had refused to help the Chicago Annenburg Challenge because he found out who Bill Ayers was? They would be saying what a terrible guy he was that he stopped helping out this charity just because one of the members of the brain trust had a sordid past and it had to do with not wanting to help a Republican help school children. As I see it, Obama was in a no-win situation.

Palin’s claims are bulls—, but certainly not racist.

  3. SayUncle Says:

Palin’s claims are bulls—, but certainly not racist.

    Then they should say that.

  4. Manish Says:

    OMG..I just read Rich’s tripe.

Outside of marrying the man, I can’t see how Obama could be any more tied to Ayers.

Yeah, he was practically his wife. Obama is the chair of a non-profit (for which he wasn’t paid), along with working for a law firm, being a professor and being in the State Senate.

And Todd Palin has a loose association with the AIP?!? He was a member of the party. Sarah Palin spoke at their convention twice (once in person, once via video). Your talking about a party that wants Alaska to leave the union, whose founder was killed in an explosives sale gone wrong. I really enjoyed the faux outrage over Michelle Obama saying that she has never been prouder of her country…well, at least she wasn’t advocating for our country to have 49 states.

  5. SayUncle Says:

Manish, I had no idea you were such a racist!

  6. Nate Says:

Ummm, what about Ayers saying that they (in reference to his group, the weathermen) didn’t do enough (in reference to his bombing campaign) on the morning of 9-11. Well, you know, that was 7 years ago…so what is everyone so worried about. All politicians are crooked, I have come to terms with that, but when they are crooked AND pal around with people that want to end my country…sorry that’s unacceptable.
I HOPE you CHANGE your mind, mannish.

  7. Manish Says:

umm..he said that he didn’t do enough to stop the war, not that he didn’t do enough bombings, nice try though.

when they are crooked AND pal around with people that want to end my country…sorry that’s unacceptable.

The only entity that wants to end the country is the AIP. The party that Todd Palin was a member of and Sarah Palin spoke at their convention.

  8. Yu-Ain Gonnano Says:

Yep, a bunch of people who want to effect political change by convincing their fellow citizens to vote for their position is the same as ones who wanted to effect political change by bombing the Capital, Pentagon, etc.

    Ballots = Bombs.

    Got it.

    Whatever.

Anyway, whether you think the connection is a big deal or not, it is still not racist.

  9. Nate Says:

Stop the war? What war were we fighting on 9-11? Nice try on your end.
Sooooo his racist church doesn’t want to end my country? And the weathermen didn’t want to end my country?
    Another nice try.

  10. Yosemite Sam Says:

Jesus H f’ing Christ. The Weathermen were a terrorist group. When Ayers says he wishes he would have done more, he means, since, get this, he was the leader of a bunch of terrorists is to do what terrorists do, bomb more of the pigs, soldiers, whatever to end the war.

Hell, I think Alaska independence is a great thing, let’s have more of it, because I am sick and goddamned tired of sharing this country with you pompous, conceited, arrogant and rock headed obtuse Left wing bastards.

  11. Manish Says:

Nate..are you really that slow. You originally wrote (about Ayers):

Ummm, what about Ayers saying that they (in reference to his group, the weathermen) didn’t do enough (in reference to his bombing campaign)

    To which I replied:

umm..he said that he didn’t do enough to stop the war, not that he didn’t do enough bombings, nice try though.

    To which you then replied:

Stop the war? What war were we fighting on 9-11? Nice try on your end.

It should be obvious that we are talking about Ayers and the Vietnam war, seeing as you were the one that brought it up.

Hell, I think Alaska independence is a great thing, let’s have more of it, because I am sick and goddamned tired of sharing this country with you pompous, conceited, arrogant and rock headed obtuse Left wing bastards.

And I’m sick of my tax dollars going to Alaska to fund pork. Its the blue states that pay more to the feds than we get back and its Alaska and the red states that get more from the feds than they pay in. Alaska gets more per capita in federal dollars even though y’all don’t pay any state taxes and get a big check from the oil revenue. I’m tired of paying for your pork..fund it yourself!

  12. Manish Says:

let me add..beyond what Ayers said, this is about Obama. Obama and Ayers were involved in a non-profit from 1995-2002. Ayers made those remarks in September of 2001. Was Obama really supposed to look into the future in 1995 and decide not to work with Bill Ayers because of something that he was going to say 6 years into the future?

  13. chrisb Says:

LOL, an Obama supporter denouncing pork. That is a good one. Your comparison between the AIP and the Weather Underground is ridiculously fucktarded. At any rate Todd Palin attended one convention in Wasilla and that was it. Obama, who is actually running for POTUS, worked closely with Ayers on multiple large projects.

He knows the guy. He has hung out with the guy. He has worked with the guy. Lastly, he lied about his relationship with the guy.

  14. Manish Says:

worked closely with Ayers on multiple large projects.

which involved helping school children…ohh, how scary and terrible. They were helping kids, with the help of Walter Annenburg’s money. Frankly, if this is all that you’ve got, your toast.

At any rate Todd Palin attended one convention in Wasilla and that was it

except that Sarah Palin spoke at two of their conventions (one in person, one by video). This is a party that wants Alaska to leave the union…you know, kind of like the Confederacy.

  15. Yosemite Sam Says:

It’s the blue states…..(typical Left wing rant) Then what the hell is the problem with the Blue States. They should all vote for Conservative Republicans who will cut taxes so there is less money to pay for pork.

As far as Alaska pork, I wonder how much is left after you take away the miltary bases and National Parks, wildlife reserves and what not that are foisted on the people of Alaska whether they want them or not.

Or how about a government that won’t let the state develop it’s own natural resources because a bunch of tree huggers who would shit their pants if they saw real wilderness decide what’s best for the state.

I’ll make a deal with you, keep your blue state money. Didn’t ask for it, don’t want it. How about a trial separation. The blue cities go their own way(the only real blue areas, by the way), the rest of the country goes the other. You can have your social justice and we won’t have to listen to your whining anymore.

  16. Nate Says:

Mannish, do I have to connect all the dots for you? Why, on 9-11-01 would that Ayers deem it necessary to talk about a war that had been over for quite some time? I mean, gosh a terrorist attach had just taken place….and he and his group were terrorists….the 19 hijackers blew up buildings…..his group wished they blew up buildings…maybe out of jealousy? Or just shock that these 19 douchebags had shown them up. Instead of “I wish we had done more(to stop the war)” is it possible that he meant “I wish we had done more(bombings and terrorist acts)” I draw MY logic from how ayers and his whole crew of nutsacks went about trying to affect their brand of change, BY BOMBING SHIT!!!!!!

  17. Manish Says:

Nate…the story was printed on 9-11-01 and ran on that days paper, a paper that was printed late on 9-10-01 and delivered to peoples door in the AM of 9-11-01 before the attacks. The interview was given prior to that date.

  18. Nate Says:

If that’s true, then I take that part of my argument back. It doesn’t forgive him, but then that will no longer be an area of contention.

  19. Hemlock Says:

So using the logic extended here, if Osama Bin Laden turned himself in and beat the rap and then taught sunday school for kids then he would be a great person to help you start your political ambitions and to pal around with.
Logic like that doesn’t work here in flyover country.
Sorry, once a reptile, always a reptile.

  20. Xrlq Says:

    Manish:

which involved helping school children…ohh, how scary and terrible.

The “help” consisted of paying off radical groups to “help” radicalize school children. Scary and terrible, indeed.

They were helping kids, with the help of Walter Annenburg’s [sic] money. Frankly, if this is all that you’ve got, your [sic] toast.

Not sure why you think the identity of the original source of the funds, whose name you can’t even spell, is relevant to anything, but FWIW, Ayers is not all we’ve got. He’s only one of several radicals Obama has been chummy with over the years, but AFAIK the only one who actually advocated murdering people.

You’re right, of course, that the infamous 9/11 interview took place in advance of the 9/11 attacks. Not sure why you think that’s so important, though. It’s not as though Ayers went out of his way to distance himself from those statements afterward. Quite the opposite, in fact.

  21. Manish Says:

    X…

The “help” consisted of paying off radical groups to “help” radicalize school children.

What proof do you have of this? Do you really think that Walter Annenberg would give money to a group to “radicalize” students? Its amazing in the race to smear Obama, you are also smearing a fellow Republican and his generosity.

He’s only one of several radicals Obama has been chummy with over the years

Your candidate is tanking and is desperate. The connection to Ayers is silly at best. He knew him long after the troubled part of his life. Beyond that, so what? Do you really think that Obama is going to blow up the Pentagon when he becomes President because he knew Ayers?

On the other hand, Palin’s got her own crazy preacher, a connection to a party that wants Alaskan independence whose founder died in a explosives sale gone wrong, McCain’s connection to G. Gordon Liddy (while fairly mild, is probably stronger than the connection between Ayers and Obama), the Keating 5, etc.

  22. Manish Says:

let me add..X, here’s ACORN’s page on better schools, please tell me whats so horrible about their platform (well other than the sin of being a liberal group):

    ELEMENTS OF AN ACORN SCHOOL

    1. Parental participation

    — Parents should be welcome in the school at any time

    — Parents should have real input into principal and teacher hiring as well as the school budget and programs.

    — Activities for parents should be at convenient times

    — There should be someone at the school who speaks the language of the parents

    2. There should be a highly qualified teacher in every classroom.

    — Highly qualified is defined in the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001

    3. There should be a master teacher program to mentor other teachers

    — There should be one full time master teacher/mentor for every 12 teachers.

    — Classroom evaluation and feedback will be part of this program

    4. There should be a highly qualified principal at the school.

    5. Small class sizes

    — For grades K to 3 this should be 20 or less.

    — For all other grades this should be 25 or less.

    6. Longer school day and/or after school programs

    — The school day should be longer than the “normal” 3 pm to provide adequate time for instruction.

    — ACORN schools should have an after school program which moves students towards academic excellence and which is available to all students.

    7. Research based reading program

    — All ACORN schools should implement a research based reading program such as Success for All.

  23. straightarrow Says:

Manish are you really that stupid? Ok, ok, not a fair question, if you really are, you wouldn’t be capable of knowing it.

So let me ask this way. Do you really believe what you say? That will answer my original question.

  24. Manish Says:

Hey SA…good one, that’s really clever. Did you think that one up all by yourself?

  25. Gmac Says:

“Guilty as hell, free as a bird”
    Who said that Mannish?

  26. Xrlq Says:

What proof do you have of this? Do you really think that Walter Annenberg would give money to a group to “radicalize” students?

I don’t know Walter Annenberg, so I have no opinion as to whether he would have knowingly given money to an unrepentant terrorist to dish out to far-left groups more interested in radicalizing students than educating them, or whether he just didn’t do enough due diligence in Ayers’s case. I also don’t care. Walter Annenberg isn’t running for office, so your insistence on making this about him is off base. It’s not about how Ayers got the money. It’s about what Ayers did with the money once he had it.

By bringing up ACORN, you’ve made it clear you actually know the answer to the rest of your question, so I shan’t bother to answer it.

Your candidate is tanking and is desperate.

Tanking? Hardly. Desperate? Maybe, but that doesn’t make him wrong. Certainly not wrong to go after Ayers, anyway. Wrong not to go after Wright more aggressively.

The connection to Ayers is silly at best. He knew him long after the troubled part of his life.

Well, go-o-lly! Maybe I should strike up a friendship with Charles Manson, then. He hasn’t done any bad stuff since I was two.

Beyond that, so what? Do you really think that Obama is going to blow up the Pentagon when he becomes President because he knew Ayers?

No, but I do think his cozy relationship with unrepentant terrorists like Ayers and black racists like Wright – but no similarly cozy relationships with even mainstream conservatives – tell us a lot about where the guy is coming from.

  27. Manish Says:

By bringing up ACORN, you’ve made it clear you actually know the answer to the rest of your question, so I shan’t bother to answer it.

humor me…tell me how, in your words, groups like ACORN “radicalize” students as you so eloquently put it. The first obvious answer is that “radicalize” isn’t a word and thus the statement must be untrue. How does ACORN’s school program radicalize students? And try using facts rather than BS right-wing talking points.

  28. Manish Says:

More comes out on this garbage:

Regardless of his background, it was never a problem for anyone — including Republicans and Chicago’s most powerful business leaders — to work with Ayers on Chicago’s public schools. In fact, Ayers is widely respected in the field of urban education.

“It was never a concern by any of us in the Chicago school reform movement that he had led a fugitive life years earlier,” said former Illinois state Republican Rep. Diana Nelson, who worked with both Obama and Ayers over the years. “It’s ridiculous. There is no reason at all to smear Barack Obama with this association. It’s nonsensical, and it just makes me crazy. It’s so silly.
    [….]
“I don’t remember ever hearing anyone raise concerns or questions or concerns about [Ayers’] background,” says Anne Hallett, who has worked closely with Ayers on the Annenberg Challenge grant and with Obama on education and other community and legislative matters. “And that included everybody I was engaged with,” including prominent Republicans, and corporate and civic leaders in Chicago, Hallett adds.

Hallett calls this attack on Obama’s association with Ayers and the Annenberg Challenge by further association, “a smear campaign. It’s a political diatribe that has no basis in fact. The Chicago Annenberg Challenge was an extremely positive initiative. It was well-vetted, thorough, and the fact that it is now is being used for political purposes is, in my opinion, outrageous.”

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
