They always shoot the dog

This time, in Nashville, they shot a tethered dog. Panel says officer acted appropriately. Now, the dog was tethered. I think they would have also acted appropriately if they, say, backed up to where the dog could not reach them.

In police culture, I think it’s good for your rep if you have fired your weapon on a raid. If you haven’t found a bad guy to shoot, the next best thing is to have shot a dog. You have to make your bones somehow, which is exactly how my Federal Marshal friend puts it.

I am thinking about starting a blog called “They always shoot the dog” along the lines of “The Only One’s” by David Codrea. I am afraid I wouldn’t lack for fodder to post…..meanwhile I am teaching my dogs to shoot back. the whole opposable thumb thing has me stumped, but I think that if I could trigger a firearm by barking we’ll be all set.

What is the deal with cops shooting dogs?

    Partciularly a tethered one.

MAny cops today are cowards. that’s why they storm in with 20 guys on grandmothers and shit.

It seems to be the default policy. It seems to me the fair thing would be to shoot only when necessary for self defense. Crazy idea eh? Those that have shot defenseless tethered animals that were no threat should be chucked in jail right alongside Michael Vick as far as I’m concerned.

ATLien, it’s not cowardice. it’s policy. that’s the issue

Sounds like a perfect cop invasion detector.

A stuffed robot dog, and a sensor to set off an alarm if it gets shot.

    They always shoot the dog.

ATLien, it’s not cowardice. it’s policy. that’s the issue- Uncle

And the reason it’s policy is because of the cowardice of cops.

I’d kill a person. A dog? I’d have trouble sleeping. Seriously.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
