How come every software glitch is a Rovian/Clintonian conspiracy?
Maybe Google just updated their automated Splog-seeking software and are getting a bunch of false positives?

When this hits the week before the election, the paranoia (or at least MINE, anyway) increases. Sharon Cobb, Vibinc and Tom Guleff (JoeCitizens) got hit at this end of the state.

I had Google blocking me from downloads yesterday. They were saying my requests appeared to be automated. Works all right today.

Google had been on my site every single night for the last month(From Sitemeter) except last night.
I know a conspiracy sounds strange, but truth is stranger…
Google has helped China block certain sites in the past, so why not now? Then China announced yesterday they would unblock the Sites they blocked, and I believe it’s possible Google was once again working with China.
Or, it could have been one unstable employee.
It’s way too odd, when you go to Google Help online and look at who was blocked, and no one has heard from Google. They hasn’t issued a statement.
Just keep an open mind that maybe this is some sort of sabotage. Like I said, it’s very odd they were on my site every single night for a month between midnight and 1am, but not last night when my site was down.
I’m going on 18 hours with being blocked, and not one word from Google. Also, when I call them in Mountain View, they won’t put me on the phone with anyone who can tell me what is going on.

When Google threw free speech under the bus in order to do business in Communist China, they immediately got put on my ‘watch’ list, although I blog with them. Frankly, I wouldn’t put anything past them.

I’d be willing to help one or two people translate over to their own site. If you are currently at say:
cool-unique-name.blogspot.com
and you are willing to blog at:
cool-unique-name.nfshost.com
Your cost would be a few pennies a day plus bandwidth ($1 per GB, I use about $3 per year). If you want your own domain too, that would be an extra $13 per year or so. My bill last year was ~$25 total..
Yea, I know that would cost you a bit of real cash, but no one would be able to lock you out by “flagging” your blog, and you wouldn’t have to hope that blogger, haloscan and photobucket are all up and running at the same time.

Exactly.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that China announced yesterday they were going to unlock the Internet sites they had blocked, and Google crashes its bloggers.
There’s a connection, I am sure of it. And I’ll try to prove it when I get back up and running and can call people.
Google still won’t offer an explanation (other than an automated spam notice at the time we were blocked)
Stay on your toes. Big brother is watching, and Google is one of them and working with them.

It’s nice to see someone else hosting with NFSN. I’ve been there for some time, and really have been pleased. The only thing I dislike is the lack of SSL, but I don’t really have any need for it. Supposedly they’re looking at providing it, which is nice.
Domains purchased through NFSN are about $7.99/year, while you can get them for about $6.99/year from GoDaddy.
I can host a blog under my own domain at NFSN for a year and it will cost me less than my share of the bill for eating at a restaurant with my girlfriend.

Yea, but I pay extra for the Respect-My-Privacy (only a penny a day extra) The TACOS at NFS is better than GoDaddy’s TOS
Most of my other domains are at GoDaddy, but I point them to NFS.N to do the actual sites.
There are a couple of other funky drawbacks vs. getting your own box rackmounted somewhere with a static IP, but I can’t really afford even the cheapest plan ($35/month for Mac Mini colo, you supply the mac)
I’m at about 7 cents a day for everything including the domain name.

WoGspot is now working–but for a while I couldn’t get it to display in IE–Firefox and Safari worked fine. Turns out there was something about SiteMeter gumming up the works. I removed that code and harmony has returned. I bring this up, SayUncle, because I’m doing this via Firefox. Seems IE isn’t working on your site now, at least from my end, and I noticed that little counter widget on the bottom of your page…
