Race to the White House

If you weren’t paying attention, then you didn’t notice all the racism. See, we’re not a post racism society*. Part of the reason is that everyone sits around with their racist decoder rings looking for racism. Even when it may or may not be there. But accusations of racism these days are rather like car alarms. You hear both so much that you don’t even pay attention to the noise anymore. A few examples:

If you call Barack Chirac Obama an elitist, you’re a racist! Seriously?

Bill Hobbs did a post reminding Barack Tiberius Obama who is boss was. That boss quite clearly from the link meant the people. Then ZOMFG it’s a slave reference!

And ZOMFG! someone called Barack Gwen Stefani Obama a boy! But, you say I call people boy sometimes and I don’t mean nothing racist by it. I looked at my wife last night and said ‘that boy ain’t right’ and he was a white dude trying to push a rope. Doesn’t matter because Boy, in that context, is a racist remark, period. We don’t have to give you a reason, it just is! Dammit. And this is great:

The GOP clearly intends to yell “n*gger, n*gger” or “b*tch, b*tch” for the entire campaign in a desperate attempt to divert attention away from the complete mess they have made of the country.

Not really since the Dems are doing it for the GOP. I mean, I keep reading lefty blogs that say if you don’t vote for Hillsy, it’s ’cause you’re a misogynist. And if you don’t vote for Barack a2 + b2 = c2 Obama, it’s ’cause you’re a racist.

In other news, years of pandering to identity politics is biting the Dems on the ass.

* Note: there really is real racism but none of this is it.

I was called a racist on Bryan Miller’s blog by jadegold because apparantly, when you refer to glorification of violence by urban “culture” (not even urban “people” just the culture) you are only referring to black people.

Guess he never heard of Eminem.

I better seek a diversity program, because I intend to pick the lesser of 3 evils and vote for McCain instead of Hitlery and Barak “supercalifragilisticexpealidocious” Obama. I must be racist.

  2. Gregory Morris Says:

Didn’t you hear about the fourth option? No, I don’t mean ronpaulronpaulronpaul. Unfortunately, the option is only valid in Idaho.

  3. Tom Stone Says:

Obama is just a normally corrupt big money Dem with a tan who is intelligent and a good speaker.Hillary is an utterly corrupt big money dem with no principles,if her dog gave her a dose i’d feel sorry for the dog.Mccain thinks sunni’s and shia are buds, has proposed an economic plan that would destroy what is left of our middle class, voted against the new GI bill, voted for torture, and never met a lobbyist he did not like.He is in favor of the second amendment, which means he is the only candidate of the three who is likely to have read the entire bill of rights instead of having a staffer summarize it for him.Where is Barry Goldwater? where is Dick Nixon? I would probably piss on Obama if he was afire, but not the others.

  4. Maynard Says:

    “Barack a2 + b2 = c2 Obama” is your bet one yet.

  5. # 9 Says:

When did “elitist” become a synonym for “racist”? Did I miss that?

  6. Buck Says:

Voting for McCain just makes you a masochist.

  7. Sean Braisted Says:

Regardless of whether Hobbs’ bigotry was on full display with this post…his saying that Obama should remember who his “boss” is and be mindful of the “natural order of things” was just too easy to pass up, regardless of his intended application.

He calls Obama an Anti-Semite because he has advisers who support a two-state solution; he calls him a bigot because he says people are bitter; and he gets morally outraged when people make fun of his comments? Puh-leaze.

  8. Nomen Nescio Says:

there really is real racism but none of this is it.

the eternal refrain of the white conservative.

  9. Sebastian Says:

Voting for McCain just makes you a masochist.

No shit. God I want this election to be over already.

  10. Rustmeister Says:

Unc, you’ve crossed the line on this one.

How dare you put Cpt. Kirk’s middle name there!

  11. Les Jones Says:

Molon labe: don’t you know that gangsta rap is a ploy to get plack people to kill each other? It’s true! Alicia Keyes said so.

  12. Molon Labe Says:

    Les-

    Wow. Missed that one.

So when can we expect Alicia to speak out against musical expression and advocate that those in the gangsta-rap genre to turn in all of the money they have made in the music industry?

ps…you can say “black” (instead of plack), I won’t think of you a racist! 😉

  13. anon Says:

Funny how it never occurs to the libtards that:

Voting for Barack Star Trek III: the Search for Spock Obama _because_ he’s black is also racist…

Voting for the Hildebeest _because_ she’s female is also sexist…

  14. retro Says:

Hello, my name is retro and I’m a racist mysonginist.

[chorus]Hi retro, welcome to the group!

  15. Sean Braisted Says:

    Anon,

And voting for McCain because he is a crazy old white guy is just plain stupid.

  16. SayUncle Says:

yes, but crazy old white guy will probably do the least amount of damage.

  17. tgirsch Says:

Doesn’t matter because Boy, in that context, is a racist remark, period. We don’t have to give you a reason, it just is! Dammit. And this is great:

It’s good to know that there’s no meaningful history of whites in the US calling grown black men “boy” as a means of disparaging them and putting them “in their place.” As our commenter Ted (who, by the way, almost always takes your side in allegations-of-racism arguments) put it:

There is significant history of whites, especially southern whites, using the word “boy” in a derogatory manner when addressing black men. That is an indisputable fact. Not “good old boy”, not “old boys network”, not “my wife gave birth to our third boy last night”, but “boy”, when referring to a man.

Put another way, grown black men do not like to be referred to as “boy” by white people. Doubt it? Try it yourself and you will see.

In sum: your ignorance of (or willingness to ignore) racial history is not the same thing as absence of racial history.

It’s good to know that there’s no meaningful history of whites in the US calling grown black men “boy” as a means of disparaging them and putting them “in their place.”

And thats similar to stating this particular comment means that 100% positively in the affirmative there can be no doubt? I think not.

It’s not ignorance. I just don’t throw around accusations of racism willy-nilly.

yes, but crazy old white guy will probably do the least amount of damage.

It’s pathetic when it comes down to who’s gonna do the least damage to the country. How I do miss the “this guy looks like he’ll do a BETTER job than that other guy” times.

  20. Buck Says:

I’ll vote for Obama (if he gets the nomination) primarily because of his inexperience. He has not been in Washington long enough to get as slimy as those with more experience. He does seem intelligent. He has sat around the kitchen table of black folks and white folks. He knows the kind of shit both say and then deny ever saying it.

And I do understand that he is very liberal but I feel like he is intelligent enough to make compromises when the situation calls for it.

I just can’t vote for a Republican. The last 7 years has pretty much cured me of that habit. Once I really started watching what they did instead of listening to what they said I realized that I had spent years being duped.

Obama could shake this thing up a bit. Plus I am sick of seeing the same faces for the last 30 years. A vote for Hillary or McCain is a guarantee of the same ol’ shit going forward.

It is worth it to me to roll the dice. If Obama loses it won’t be because I was not willing to give him a shot.

And for what it is worth I am a 50 year old white guy who was born and raised in the North Georgia mountains. And I will put an Obama sticker on my truck (if he wins the nomination) even if it means I get my tires cut 😉

  21. Linoge Says:

*files this under “Methinks thou dost protest too much.”*

After all, Democrats are some of the staunchest, strongest, and most single-minded supporters of governmentally-mandated discrimination, otherwise known as “affirmative action”.

Next thing you know, though, they will start declaring that calling anyone “black” is racist… Oh wait…

  22. straightarrrow Says:

so far, in this cycle the three most egregious racists I have seen has been Barack No I didn’t say it that way Obama, his wife, and his pastor.

    Ironically, racism is color blind.

  23. trainer Says:

    “Barack a2 + b2 = c2 Obama” is your best one yet.

Yeah! I’m only here for the middle names,
    and the beer,
    and the food,

    and the Guns.

  24. retro Says:

    Sorry to hear that Buck.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
