Well, here’s a little secret for ya: Gun control laws only affect the law-abiding. More:
Here’s a little secret the NRA doesn’t want you to know: Most gun owners are almost never inconvenienced by gun laws. That’s because most people who buy guns do not do it on a whim.
Err, I’ve done it. Quite a few times. Can’t pass up a good deal.
A waiting period or one gun a month is only a problem for people who want a gun immediately.
Now, why on earth would someone want a gun immediately? Oh, yeah.

Because they’ve probably decided they need a gun and when you need a gun, you need it now!

I think the last two guns I’ve purchased – 1 handgun, 1 long gun, have been bought within about 48hours of when I decided I wanted the gun. Would I have been inconvienced if I had to wait a month on the handgun – maybe not in the “Wow I’m being mugged right now, I wish I didn’t have to wait a month for my new .45” sort of way, but more in the “All my friends are shooting their .45’s at the range today but I’m stuck sitting at home” way.
As for the rifle – yes of course it would be an inconvience – deer season is moving in quick and if I had to waste a month waiting for this thing to show up, then that would be a month that I couldn’t be out at the range testing handloads (which also means a month of me NOT buying reloading equipment which = fewer tax dollars for the govt)
These waiting period policies not only hurt the consumer, they hurt the government too, and ultimately they hurt the animals and environment that benefit from hunting tax dollars.

I used to live in Canada, with a lot more gun control than here. I looked into getting a gun there, and it was extremely inconvenient, to say the least. So I never bothered. I think that’s part of the strategy they’re going for here. No thanks.

How about a law making it illegal to purchase or use more than one air flight per month? Do it in the name of national security and helping to relieve some of the burden on TSA.
That would only affect politicians and people who wanted to fly “right now”. Most people wouldn’t be affected by it. Anyway, most people do not decide to fly on a whim.
Try that one on for size Waxman.

Extend that to air crews much like restrictions on FFL’s and now we are doing something to make us all feel safer.
Remember to get your flight permit, have your background check, your fingerprint card and the approval of the local sheriffs at each end of the flight. Allow enough time to process flight requests and appeal any denials before scheduling your flight. Appeals will be time consuming until Congress funds the mechanism for them.
How about it Waxman? Sound like reasonable restrictions to me. Your rights do not take precedence over my right to feel secure in tall buildings and five sided buildings or Pa. farm fields.
Remember this is about feeling secure. And all that I have proposed in these last two comments is a direct copy of the machinations in place and/or proposed for gun owners and prospective gun purchasers, even use the same justifications.
