Remember These Words
Yesterday I posted a profile of a gun control advocate, then Joe Huffman found a quote I can’t believe I missed:
“We do baby steps,” he said. “Jan and I had 29 years of the most amazing love affair that somebody could have on the planet. I thank God every day for that. I’d love to be able to take your hand gun. But we’re not going to do that.”
Emphasis mine. Don’t trust these people any farther than you can throw them. When they say they aren’t coming after your guns, they are lying.

Exactly, why should we trust these people.
He says himself that he thinks guns are pure evil. If he really believes that, why would he stop with some piddling microstamping law or a requirement that a gun owner has to report a stolen firearm in 72 hours(what if you are on vacation). Once he gets these, he’ll go back for more until he passes his reasonable ban on almost all firearms.
We can argue until we are blue in the face about how microstamping doesn’t work, how it is easily defeated with a file or by just using a bloody revolver and taking the cartridges away from the scene, etc etc. , but they will never listen because guns are bad ummm kay and why would you want to own something that is bad….
All they are is pure emotion.
Sooner or later, we are going to be at a point where we will have to say: enough, we will obey these laws no more. If we don’t, we will just have to get used to losing yet another right and freedom.

I just cannot understand why these people, who claim to be intelligent, just cannot comprehend that the CRIMINALS are the problem, not the impliments that they use to commit their crimes.

Sebastian, I don’t know if you recall the guy, Freedonian, who posted in comments here during the debate on guns in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings. He said the same thing. He’d always begin, “I don’t want to take your guns.” And then later in a comment he’d say, “I really wish I could get rid of all guns.”
They lie to reassure you that they aren’t going to do exactly what they want to do.

I remember Freedonian. As I recall he stated in a post that 2% of the population of the USA were shooting victims every year which got a huge laugh out of me. 2% of the USA’s population is roughly five million, eight hundred thousand people!

I hear ya! I’m solidly convinced that if a liberal’s life depended on telling the truth he’d still lie.
