Note to other bloggers

To those of you using that annoying Snap thing that pops up when I mouseover a link, can you get rid of that? It’s really fucking annoying.

You can go to the snap website and get a cookie to stop that shit. However, [dons tinfoil hat], they can use this as a “web-bug” and track and sell your surfing habits.

A total block would use Firefox and the AdBlock extension. Just add this to your blocklist:

    http://spa.snap.com/snap_preview_anywhere.js*

I'll write up a full howto sometime tonight.

That thing really is annoying! Especially when you are simply browsing through a post that has several links.

    Oops.

Glad I’m not the only one who finds that annoying

What is the point of snap? To make surfing as annoying as possible?

I sometimes find it handy as a way to preview something before I click any links. But the way it just POPS up, in the way, unexpectedly, really is annoying. It’s not knowing that Snap is being used, and then being surprised by it, that bugs me.

Thanks, Uncle! I complained about how annoying those things are a while back, but nobody ever listens to me.

Thank God I’m not the only one who hates that. It’s creeping onto more blogs very slowly and I was afraid it was going to be the next big thing.

And thank you, Standard Mischief, for pointing out a way around it in Firefox. I’ve been using FF + Adblock for a while but hadn’t thought of that way around it.

That snap thing and brietbart news articles with their popup links are real bothersome.

  11. Digger Says:

Nearly the most worthless and annoying invention ever developed.

I say nearly because about the only thing worse is actual pop up ads prior to pop up blocking ability.

If you’re a blogger with this on your site delete it quick before you lose visitors.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
