Stupid, stupid people

You have to read this (dated May 17) to believe it:

Just under four months from today, Americans will be able to walk out of a gun store with an AK-47 rifle, an Uzi or other weapon of mass murder under their arm.

Unless Congress acts — and Republican leaders show no inclination to do so — the 10-year-old federal assault gun ban will expire Sept. 13. A word from President Bush would get a renewal before lawmakers, a majority of whom would probably approve it. But the president is silent.

Guys, the ban expired last September. And there’s been no increase in violent crime committed with these weapons to my knowledge. Of course, it is a reprint of an article that I covered a while back. Careless error or stupidity? I dunno.

It’s “Best Of” Week at the Morning Sentinel!

Really? And an article copied from the LA Times makes the cut?

    Here’s my favorite part:

However how tempting it is to blame Congress for the stalemate over this bill, the leadership failure is really the president’s. Bush has said he backs the ban. He also wants the NRA’s political endorsement, which the gun group is withholding until after the ban expires. So Bush has put no pressure on Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) or House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) to move Feinstein’s measure or its House counterpart.

Bush had better sew up that endorsement fast, or we could end up with President Kerry in ’06.

BTW, are your trackbacks on the fritz? I pought your site this morning but it isn’t showing up in the comments.

  5. SayUncle Says:

Trackbacks were disabled. stupid spammers. Should be working now.

Given that they’re one full year behind, is it redundant to say that liberals truly are clueless? Regardless, they are all morons and should kill themselves out of decency, if they had any.

  7. Xrlq Says:

What version of WordPress are you using? Ever since I updated to 1.5x, I get almost no comment and trackback spam anymore.

  8. SayUncle Says:

How hard is the upgrade for a computer dummy like me? None of the spam actually makes it to the site. In fact, it only took 15 minutes from opening up trackbacks to start getting spam. Gotten about 50 in the hours since enabling trackback.

  9. Xrlq Says:

Very easy. Just be sure to back up any files you’ve tweaked.

  10. Ravenwood Says:

Actually, the best part is the “Updated Weekly” tag line on their site.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
