Today’s Idiot
What’s a few dead cops to the gun lobby?
Nice bit of hateful rhetoric there, sparky. He is apparently not aware that the two things that kill more cops are 1) their own weapon and 2) auto accidents.
The shock was in the weight of the thing. Less than six pounds.
It was a cop’s weapon, a semiautomatic assault rifle of dull anodized black steel, stripped down to an unadorned functionality.
How light it felt in my hands. Like a toy gun.
I thought how easy it would be for some kid, some 110-pound wild-dog street punk, to heft an AR-6520 and wield it to hellish effect.
No wonder Fort Lauderdale is spending $82,000 for guns designed to kill enemy soldiers. Police know that since the expiration of the federal assault weapon ban, young criminals have ginned up the arms race.
The AR-6520 is Colt’s law enforcement carbine. It is, usually, a machine gun. So, where is Mr. Grimm going to go? Why to claiming that it is an assault weapon of course:
Gun peddlers visit gun stores and shows where they make legal purchases of semiautomatic military assault guns powerful enough to penetrate walls, doors, cars — powerful enough to render a police officer’s bulletproof vest obsolete.
Told ya. And my Glock 30 can penetrate all those but the vest. And any rifle caliber can penetrate a vest since vests are rated for handgun fire. But what are a few facts when there’s some pants shitting to be done!
They flip them. Sell them out of car trunks at twice the price to gangbangers, drug dealers and armed robbers who want to upgrade to cop killers. Sell them to felons. Sell them to kids. Sell them to certifiably crazy people as long as crazy people can ante up a cold three grand.
Wow. This guy must have watched a Lethal Weapon marathon on TNT!
More of the same PSH is concluded with:
Congress demonstrated in 2004 how much value was placed on the mythical right of private citizens to own semiautomatic military assault rifles.
Actually, congress demonstrated how much value it placed on the will of the people. They remembered how much the original AWB cost them politically.
How much? More than a few dead cops.
And how many as a percentage? Still substantially less than 1%, as has always been the case. More are killed with handguns. Ban those too? Or do you realize that is politically not going to happen, ever?

New Flash: A criminal with $3,000 in his pocket will be able to buy any gun he wants, regardless of the amount of gun control laws on the books at the time.
Of course, once those extra-deadly .223-caliber rifles are taken care of, they can use their “lethality” as the baseline for banning anything more powerful.
Like those 100-year-old lever guns. I hear they can turn a cop’s head into a bowl of tomato soup with just one shot.
And, that 12-ga in the closet that belonged to your grandfather. That thing can cut cops in half!!!

Well, I did not list all the reasons Fred was an idiot. Just some.

Same old shit, of course. The one interesting thing is that we have somehow figured out how to anodize steel. Jack.

It’s nice to see he’s getting his ass handed to him in the comments there, even if he’ll never read ’em.

Good ol’ Lethal Weapon 3, in which “cop killers” are the “good stuff” that every gang member desires. (Plus, handguns can punch through armored steel!)
