Mass shootings in gun-free nations

If they were gun-free that wouldn’t happen.

In the real world, however, there’s no such thing.

  2. Ron W Says:

@Publius, correct, “there’s no such a thing”. The government has a “monopoly of gun violence” which they share with the criminals they aid and abet by keeping the rest of the citizens as unarmed victims.

Logic would suggest that a “mass” shooting would be likely only among a dearth of guns. Otherwise, it would tend to be stopped before it became a “mass” shooting.

Then again, logic has been said to be a “weapon” of the oppressive, white, patriarchy. That would make me guilty of a “mass logic-ing”, proving the charge that I am an oppresive white male.

Firing another oppressive salvo of logic, I further point out that a mass shooting has a very low probability of being stopped because, if stopped, it isn’t likely to have grown into a mass shooting. Cases exist, but they are necessarily rare. Thus we have, and will continue to have, very little proof of mass shootings being stopped by armed person(s) on-scene at the moment.

Further, in the presense of a well and properly armed population, a mass shooting is less likely to be planned, much develop into a mass shooting. That is of course why schools and other “gun free zones” are usually targeted.

What any of this has to do with the God-given right to self defense, and the intended protection of that right in the second amendment, is somethihng of a different matter, though it is related in the sense of making a case for the prosecution of those who would deny that right Under Color of Law (18 USC 242).
