The Trumpening

So, let’s see where we are so far. Walking back the wall to more of a fence really. Backpedaling on deportation. But I think most people realized those were just talk. But the good news.

Trump has issued his policy positions on gun rights. And it’s pretty good.

Trump will appoint pro-gun judges. Excellent. Heller and McDonald went 5/4. So, we potentially dodged a bullet there.

Rand Paul says that, under Trump, the congress will go on a deregulation spree. Here’s hoping. What really needs to happen is banning bureaucrats from making law through regulation.

People will start to care about the surveillance state again. Maybe even the media.

The Ant Farm Election. The alternative was the animal farm election.

I don’t know that I ever took wall to mean a brick/block/concrete wall. If you look at the fence in Nogales, AZ it’s certainly a lot more than a picket fence and a lot cheaper and faster to build than a concrete wall. Even a digital surveillance wall for rapid DHS deployment is a hell of a lot better than open borders.

“Even a digital surveillance wall for rapid DHS deployment is a hell of a lot better than open borders.”

That’s what we were promised under Bush, so….

Anyway, I’m just going under the assumption that nothing of note will actually happen. I’m jaded by the GOP in TN telling me “it’s not like your suddenly going to start voting for Democrats now” after I worked hard to get them the house, senate, and governor’s mansion they told me they needed in order to pass meaningful carry reform.

I look forward to the MSM holding the President to account again. Haven’t seen that for 8 years now.

Did you guys really expect a Soviet style Berlin Wall???? I mean come on guys….

You WILL see the border made more or less secure. Lots more Border Patrol. Lots more jailing of criminal aliens. Lots more surveillance with, yes, a fence of some kind to slow them down while electronic surveillance finds them and they are interned.

And if you are caught more than once, FIVE YEARS IN JAIL. That will be the law.

If your goal is to protect 2A and restrict illegal immigration, this is likely the best President you’ll have seen in 30 (or more) years. Focus on the direction of his message vice the details the MSM wants you to be distracted with.

But onto the details anyway: Trump has always left wiggle room on illegal aliens in the USA. His one grand promise was to ‘deport them all…but then let them back in once they fill out some paperwork’. People seem to forget that second part.

Once you acknowledge that some percentage of the illegal population will be given legal work permits (which has always been his position), you are left dickering over implementation. His next move is to simply say it’s cheaper to do the paperwork here and let eVerify sort them out. A system of limited work permits, enforced mandatory eVerify and limited/no public benefits for those here illegally will effectively shut down the allure of crossing the border.

He’s also always said The Wall(tm) would be designed by, “people who know what will work.” He wasn’t providing engineering guidance during the election. Razor fence works well if it is maintained and managed.

The MSM is now trying to make Trump look like he’s ‘backpedaling’ despite not even being sworn in. Don’t buy it. Focus on the direction and less on the details they claim to understand.

IF we quit giving a huge incentive for folks to come across the border illegally, we probably wouldn’t even need a fence.

I do some work in the Dominican Republic which shares a border with Haiti. The Dominican Republic locals I speak with say that they have little issue with the Haitian immigrants because there is no incentive for them to be there. There is no free healthcare, no monthly living stipend, no free school, no drivers license, no income tax refund etc etc.

I think we definitely need a wall, a physical barrier in certain areas to augment a Border Patrol who has the authority to keep invaders out! But there’s no wall around Area 51, just signs that say “deadly force authorized beyond this point”. That applies to us! But for some reason, the same can’t be applied to foreign invaders???

Strangulating the economy via Smoot-Hawley 2016 would do the trick.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
