Raise your hand if you think some University PD guys just wanted to get some awesome stuff and go out “training” for a couple weekends as part of “work”.

Where I live we have an annual “Zombie Shoot.” For one of stations, the local sherrif’s department brings out its armored personnel carrier or whatever you call it, and you can sit inside and shoot zombies through the gun ports. Yeah, it’s cool, but as a tax payer it pisses me off.

Do they have an ROTC program? Or a grant to design grenade launchers? There could be non-nefarious reasons that the author missed.

The 40mm platform is commonly used for less lethal deployment, like tear gas. Probably should be in every police weapons locker – riot control is certainly a legitimate function of law enforcement personnel.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
