it would be of help if they would standardize on the word suppressor and ditched the word silencer. Because they don’t .

I agree. Been bitching about that for years. Jack.

    Facial tissue. Kleenex.

Who do you think should impose a “standard” so we can all use the same word? Under what threats should such a standard be imposed?

I’d rather see a requirement that anyone using the word “Progressive” in the political sense be required to demonstrate an understanding of what the word means.

How about the word “gay”? It’s found in Christmas songs, books and plays, et al, to mean light-hearted or cheerful. What authority should impose a standard on that one, and who’s heads shall that authority hold its guns to by way of enforcing that standard?

Or maybe, on the other hand, we should be able to understand things, all by our selves, based on context.

And you do know that the inventor called his invention a “silencer” right? Facial tissue is the generic term, Kleenex the trade name of one company. To some people all motorcycles are “Hondas” and all soft drinks are “Cokes” too. You wanna fight about it?

Anyway, I was going to say that in the gif there is no barrel tilt, but whatever.

and here I thought it was gnomes….

  6. dagamore Says:

ATF and Fed Law call them Silencers, the Inventor Hiram Maxim called it a Silencer in his patent application. Its also known as a muffler. I will call it a Silencer/Suppressor/Can interchangeably.
