My 1894c is in 44 magnum. It is flat-shooting to 125 yards and has acceptable punch at 400 if you can see that far. I put XS Ghost Ring sights on mine. The only downer is the barrel twist rate which does not support the 310-gr hardcast boolits I want to shoot. It is very accurate with 240SWC though. I haven’t tried LeveRevolution yet, but I hear it’s what I ought to be shooting. My companion revolver is a 4″ Colt Anaconda and it DOES like the 310 bear loads.
If I had to go down to “one rifle”, this would be it.
It’s a perennial idea. I’d personally rather go with a .30-30 for a “car gun.” But the real questions today are: where do you find a Marlin 1894C, and how do you get one with good build quality?
