Just one handgun

What would it be?

For me, Glock 17 or Smith and Wesson M&P9. Either is just as good.

I see what you did there.

  2. SayUncle Says:

    Well, i did specify M&P9.

I am more accurate with my Colt Gold Cup 1911 than I am with any other hand gun I have tried in .45.

  4. MAJMike Says:

    M1911A1

  5. TigerStripe Says:

Only one, it would have to be a G19. I’ve owned an M9 and really liked it. Parts and accessories are far easier to find for a Glock.

    Colt 1911A1

  7. Todd S Says:

    I like my M1 Garand.

  8. Todd S Says:

    I know it’s not a handgun… just a joke. I’d take my M&P 9.

    Ruger LCR 357

Does the ‘one gun’ rule include all of the ones you have buried?

OK, I’ll be the oddball. K-frame S&W in .38 SPL. Utterly reliable, reasonable size & weight, accurate as all h*ll, and I can load .38 for well under .10 a round.

Gotta go with the 4 inch S&W Mountain gun in .44 mag. Although my 4 inch Security-Six .357 mag is a close second. One handgun for the rest of my life? Either will do it all for me.

When I first started shooting, I was very poor and faced this problem. I solved it with a Ruger Mark II bull barrel in 22LR.

And at the outdoor range I frequented just north of Baltimore, MD, I could use PEEPS marshmallow bunnies as reactive targets.

I strongly recommend both to the new shooter.

  14. Mu Says:

Well, it is a hand gun – my 10 inch S&W 44 mag. Nice groups with 44 spc loads, enough umph to go hunting if required.

My old Springfield Armory 1911A1. It was built before the “custom” craze, but somebody modified it to put in an adjustable Bomar rear. Far more accurate than I am, it eats anything, and I used to use it (with a reduced-power recoil spring) to shoot bullseye competition before my eyesight started to fail. In .45 ACP, it’s easy to clean, and heck, I just like it. Besides, shooting something twice is silly.

OK, I’ll be the oddball and not say Glock clone, high powered revolver or 1911….
If I could only keep one handgun for the rest of my life, it would be my edc Sig P229 in 9mm. Its fat, its heavy and with the shorter barrel than my 226 it isn’t winning any ballistics charts. However, after 15 years it has never failed to fire (I have bought new mag springs every so many years though). If I’m going to have only one, its going to be totally reliable. Combined with my phantom holster its definitely the one.

Glock 19. There’s lots of Spare Parts, I can use bigger Glock Mags if needed, I can swap out the Barrel and Mags for another Caliber, and it’s a little easier to Conceal, yet it doesn’t get lost in my size 2X hands.

Now if I only had the cash to get one in Today’s Market…..

  18. Bram Says:

Whatever handgun would get me a good rifle in trade. Maybe one of those HK Socom things – they sure cost enough.

  19. Huck Says:

I’d stick with my Smith and Wesson model 10 with a 4″ barrel. Accurate, solidly reliable, .38 special packs a decient punch. Easy to handle and care for and easy to carry concealed.

I aint had any problems with it yet and don’t expect to.

  20. HardCorp Says:

The only handgun used to earn medals of honor. 1911.

  21. Steve McQueen Says:

FYI, Gary Gordon and Randy Shughart used M9’s to get their Medals of Honor. The 1911 isn’t the only handgun to earn some glory.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
