“Morally repulsive”

Yup, people who think the police should, you know, act like police are morally repulsive. Also, I’m a radical. Comments are closed, lest you morally repulsive radicals make someone think for a minute that it’s kind of uncool to set people on fire when you don’t have to.

The conflation that somehow being critical of the police is an endorsement of Dorner is ludicrous.

Closed the comments on that thread, but if you still want to complain, here’s another thread, just for you.

  2. SayUncle Says:

I’m not mad or butthurt. I’m just disappointed seeing otherwise intelligent people say really stupid shit because of politics.

  3. CTD Says:

Surprise! You scratched a “conservative” and found an authoritarian badge-sniffer!

  4. Obamao Says:

Dorner may have inadvertently been 9% successful at classic (pre 9-11) terrorism – this form usually involves tin horn dictators in banana republics; terrorists commit a heinous act intended to provoke tin horn dictator to respond disproportionately; and gain sympathy outside banana republic for the terrorists.

In this case tin horn lit up a couple of generic pickups that only matched the perp description in that they were pickups…

“Bet the hoodz won’t be rioting this time around. Dorner has made the police community really really mad.
“If any riots broke out right now, officers guns would be loaded with hollowshells and snipers would be on every rooftop with orders: STK.
    – Tin Horn Supporter

    9% success.

If Tin Horn Supporter gets his way it will hit critical mass of 10% overnight.

  5. Marcus Says:

Bob Owens was the same in 2005 when London undercover cops murdered Mr. Menezes in the tube station. He’s the same now.
Glad I stopped reading his blog way back then.

  6. montieth Says:

    Just….wow…

  7. Tai Says:

    Don’t fight you two, these are two of my favorite blogs. ;_;

  8. ecurb Says:

A man’s reaction to events like these speak volumes about his character.
Owen’s disrespectful flippancy certainly tells me all I need to know about him.

  9. Brad Says:

Amazing. So Bob Owens has managed (in some peoples imaginations) to simultaneously support authoritarianism and insurrection! That’s some trick.

I advise people to calm down, have a cookie, and break up the circular firing squad.

  10. wastme Says:

They didn’t know if anyone else was in the house. And hey did set it on fire intentional. Of course it was probably better they just kill dorner than have the cops running around shooting innocent people. They were a much bigger threat to the public that dorner was.

  11. Divemedic Says:

I stopped reading his blog. Conservatives are OK with acting like Communist dictators as long as the topic is one of their choosing.

  12. Smince Says:

Due process, after all, is just for those for whom the masses have not yet formed an opinion.

  13. Great Wall of Texas Says:

Wow, I’m glad I hadn’t come across that particular intellectual wasteland of a blog before this.

My suggestion is we leave him to be the Charles Johnson of the RKBA culture and be done with him.

  14. Jake Says:

What gets me is the cognitive disconnect between that post and one he put up just a few days earlier. Apparently, targeting Dorner with a drone strike would have been cross[ing] a Rubicon in this nation, where the government assumes it can kill American citizens, […] without due process”, but setting fire to the building he was in while he was contained – leaving him to choose between burning to death, walking out into a hail of gunfire, or committing suicide – was apparently “Basic human decency.”

Like I said in comments on the first post there: If he comes out shooting, then the police are justified in shooting back. If he’s shooting out of the building, then the police are justified in shooting back. Otherwise, he has the Right to surrender peacefully at any time, to submit himself to due process.

But let’s face it, we all know the cops there – whether LAPD or SBSO – never intended to take him alive, and were quite willing to murder him if he didn’t give them a legitimate excuse. LAPD proved that quite well when they started shooting at random pickups.

The moment he stepped out of that cabin he would have been shot, even if he had clearly communicated his intent beforehand and walked out slowly, naked, and with his hands clearly visible. Trying to run out of a suddenly burning cabin while partially obscured from the cops’ view by smoke would have just been another form of suicide,.

  15. Mike Says:

Opa! Bob Owens is dishing out the Red State Fascism. Who’s up for a bite?

Look, folks, just ’cause some people agree with you on guns doesn’t mean they agree with you on liberty or natural rights. You’d be surprised how many gun owners are closet Fascists: perfectly OK with atrocious violations of civil/human rights, as long as it’s someone else’s rights being trampled and as long as guns remain untouched.

  16. Great Wall of Texas Says:

Don’t forget the LAPD shooting the shit out of van full of old jazz musicians because they were playing Dave Brubeck “Take Five” (an apparent D$*%!r favorite)and then the mouth peace for the force has the gall to say:

“If anything, this latest shooting demonstrates just how dedicated police across the state are to bringing Christopher D$*%!r to justice for the crimes he has committed”

    http://dailycurrant.com/about/

The Daily Currant is an English language online satirical newspaper that covers global politics, business, technology, entertainment, science, health and media. It is accessible from over 190 countries worldwide – now including South Sudan.

Our mission is to ridicule the timid ignorance which obstructs our progress, and promote intelligence – which presses forward.

    Q. Are your news stories real?

    A. No. Our stories are purely fictional. However they are meant to address real-world issues through satire and often refer and link to real events happening in the world

  18. Linoge Says:

My RSS reader was getting a little cumbersome anywise. Someone who believes that the cops should feel free to use whatever force they feel appropriate and the Constitution be damned is not someone I will waste my time reading. Someone who then turns around and calls those who stand up for that Constitution “morally repulsive”… well, I think that says everything, does it not?

  19. Redleg Says:

@#3 CTD – I call ’em “badge lickers” or “badge fluffers”.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
