Situational Awareness

Not going to be much good if someone is determined and doing a professional hit.

Yep, and situational awareness won’t help you if a .338 Lapua round negligently discharged by a guy a half mile away hits you square in your melon. Me, I’m gonna try to be aware of what’s going on around me. I think it will give me the best chance to protect myself in an imperfect world.

The reality is that hits are reliable. You really can’t defend against them. That doesn’t mean you drop off with the situational awareness, which WILL stop an opportunistic attack.

I’m pretty sure the vast majority of crimes against people / accidents that cause injuty could be avoided or detected prior to them happening using situational awareness and the number of professional hits going down in this country outside of the mafia and gang life are pretty much close to zero, so this guy makes a great point about an incident that won’t affect 99.99% of the population. Good job champ, but I’ll stick with my situational awareness.

I once crossed a street 3 times to avoid a guy who was a block away, at 6am in New Orleans, on my way to the Cafe du Monde from my hotel. We were the only two people on the street at that early hour. The fellow was lounging against a car hood when I saw him and crossed the first time. He crossed, too. I recrossed to the original side of the street and he did, too. I crossed the street again, and he did, too, so I turned around and walked a few blocks out of my way to get my coffee and beignets,

I call that situational awareness, on both our parts.

As a kid, I have also been smacked on the back of my head by my idiot older brother after he snuck up on me to do just that. Situational awareness can do nothing against an unseen and hidden attack. On the other hand, my brother stopped that crap after I heard him behind me once and nutted him as hard as I could.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
