No Stock Needed

Interesting design for an AR stock, or rather lack thereof:

It’s from Halix. Looks painful to me.

Seems there is discussion about the stock and potential harm it can cause. I’m just wondering if, as folks at arfcom say, it can actually get around the NFA tax stamp. Technically, it’s not shoulder-fired.

Looks dumb IMHO. A solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.

Sure – let’s take a simple, proven stock design and fuck it up, just to be innovative. Need an awkward ambidextrous chin rest? Check. Want to put your important mouthy bits closer to the action? Check. Want metal dangly arms hanging from the rifle so they can get caught in your gear? Check.

    Thanks, but no thanks.

    Umm… No.
    That is all.

I think they should be required issue for BATFE agents.

  5. Crotalus Says:

So, now the recoil hits you in the cheek, instead of being absorbed by your shoulder? No, thanks. Who thought this bizarre thing up, anyway?

  6. Dave Says:

Why god why. Even the most blacked belted mall ninja would not buy this crap.

On a blowgun, yes. On a rifle, no. Not just no, FUCK NO.

    Dentists will LOVE this…….

The rest of us, not so much…..

I would suggest if you think this might work for you, remove the stock from your AR, place the rear of the buffer tube on your chin and blast away. Put a crutch tip on if you think 1/4″ of rubber will help. I predict you won’t like it, but what do I know?
OTOH, a pistol AR stock with a 1/2″ thick pad of foam isn’t bad with a “cheek rest”, because it doesn’t dissipate the recoil into your skull/bone structure.

I’ve seen stupid before, but this raises the bar quite a bit.

The price is more painful than the device probably is.

  13. Brad Says:

If forward tension was applied via that sling thingy it wouldn’t be so bad. But the demonstration video shows the sling slack.

  14. Brad Says:

Okay, I’ve had a closer look now and I see the CHIN REST. Holy crap what a crazy concept!

  15. Chris Says:

Just get a 16in barrel and a stock. Geez!

  16. Ted N Says:

Yet another innovation brought to us by people just trying to follow the ATF’s fucked up rules. Thanks agents. We can’t have otherwise law-abiding people doing things the simple, sensible way, nu uh, no how. Great job.

And at least the makers are thinking outside the box. Still doesn’t mean I’m gonna try it. 😀

Do not want! That being said, it wouldn’t hurt. Not like a .30 cal weapon or a shotgun.

I once saw a demo of a 1929 Thompson where the shooter rested the stock on his chin and fired it. He was member of my gun club, a retired FBI agent, and had several class 3 weapons. He let me try it and it was not any big deal. I suspect an AR-15 would have a similar feel.

It appears that *someone* heard/read the term “chin weld” and didn’t quite make the connection to the optic mounted ridiculously high over the receiver.

249 bucks for the NSN is somehow <! 200 dollars for a tax stamp.
No mention of the increased cost of dental premiums.

  20. JD Rush Says:

Some of us in half free states can’t own SBRs without also being only ones. That said, screw that.

  21. Jeff Says:

If anyone actually bothers to read his explanations of his product and watch his video without a negative mindset, then this device actually seems pretty good. Just because you might not want to purchase an item for YOURSELF doesn’t make it bad for others who might have great use for it.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
