Gun Porn

FG-42 Tactical. It’s big news, I can tell by the number of exclamation points.

That Fg-42 is interesting. I would prefer it in a intermediate cartridge though.

Around our place, we take current rifles and try to make them look like WWII classics. Some people would put skeletonized polymer on a Brown Bess musket for Jesus Christ crying out loud. At least there’s no “muzzle break.” I hate breaks.

What the hell is a picaninny rail? This a German thing?

Do you REALLY want a side-loader with a big-ass magazine to unbalance it?

Didn’t the Japanese make a VERY unwieldy medium machine gun that took long side-loading ammo clips? Didn’t the gun world forget even the side-loading Sten SMG?

The MG42 was meant to be belt-fed, and obviously, the makers of the “improved” model want to avoid restrictions on belt-fed weapons, but this weapon will NOT be easy to shoot or gain much more than an outlier niche in the EBR field.

That was the Hotchkiss, which used feed strips to get around the patent on cloth belts. They do leave much to be desired. The Sten, on the other hand, is a good subgun, and its progeny, the Sterling, is the best of the open bolt subguns. The side-mounted magazine doesn’t really cause a problem unless you’re trying to conceal it under a coat.

The MG42 and the FG42 have little in common beyond their cartridge and country of origin, so this is pretty nonsensical.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
