a crusade against rubbers

Santorum will fight the dangers of contraception. Because people might have sex.

And this kook is a front-runner?

  1. John Smith. Says:

I thought Ron Paul is supposed to be the kook….

  2. HL Says:

    Context. We need some.

He wants to end government funding and madates for contreception. I think he specifically said it would be absurd to outlaw it.

Is Ron Paul for raising taxes to pay for contrception for all?

  3. HL Says:

    From the story:

In particular, he said he would “get rid of any idea that you have to have abortion coverage or contraceptive coverage” as a government policy.

  4. SayUncle Says:

    He also said:

It’s not okay because it’s a license to do things in the sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be. They’re supposed to be within marriage, they are supposed to be for purposes that are, yes, conjugal, but also [inaudible], but also procreative.

Keep God out of my bedroom, please.

  5. HL Says:

Yeah, but that was his personal belief. He specifically stated that he wasn’t for outlawing contreception.

I’d rather have Government out of the bedroom than God, if I only had one choice.

  6. Drake Says:

You would do better to keep the furry lunatics out of your bedroom HL.

  7. j t bolt Says:

“The economy will turn right around if we just reinstate the anti-sodomy laws.”

  8. SGB Says:

His obsession with sex makes me dread finding out what gets his “freak on” later when a story breaks.

  9. Steve Says:

If it comes down to a chimp in a tuxedo, even a bible thumping chimp, versus Obama, I’m voting for the chimp.

  10. Tasso Rampante Says:

Uncle, where are the facts that support the text of this post? Each sentence would appear to be fabrication.

It’s bad form to troll your own blog.

  11. SayUncle Says:

Go to link, read, watch video.

    Santorum on gun rights:
    http://www.nationalgunrights.org/rick-santorums-anti-gun-history/

Santorum favors making birth control illegal, even for married couples.
    http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/rick-santorum-favors-making-birth-control-illegal/

Santorum is a big government liberal working to take control of the nation to create his utopia in the image only he can see. He is as dangerous or more so than Obama, and lastly for those libertarian leaning folks, beware:
    http://reason.com/archives/2012/02/14/santorum-is-severely-wrong

Withoug the libertarian Republicans not one single candidate has a chance, so Santorum states he is principled against libertarian influence, so much so he will loose. Thank God for that.

  13. dustydog Says:

I gave up on Santorum last week, when his facebook page proudly announced that the Federal Government had no right to take money from people and spend it on stuff they didn’t approve of. He explictly said it was unconstitutional.

    First – Amendment 19.
Second – intellectually no different from a draft-dodging hippy.

  14. Jeff the Baptist Says:

“Keep God out of my bedroom, please.”

Keep the government out of your bedroom, please. And by extension stop reaching into my wallet to finance what you’re doing in your bedroom.

  15. Banning Balloons is Bad Says:

Santorum is openly opposed to Griswold v. Connecticut
Yes, this was a state law that was overturned.
No, I don’t want you paying for my condoms.
Yes, we have always had the right to strap balloons over our muzzles.
Yes, this right always existed. No one may take my liberty without due process. That includes States.
No due process can result in me losing the right to buy, sell, or use balloons to cover my muzzle.

  16. ATL Says:

    A. Santorum is a douche.
    B. He says he wants to end gov’t coverage of birth control.I happen to agree with that.
    C. I am still voting for Ron Paul

  17. Bryan S. Says:

Actually, there is a danger to contraception that most don’t either understand or realize. As a society, we have been pouring artificial hormones from birth control pills into the water since the 60’s. its shown that there are few males being born, in humans as well as in aquatic animals. The males being born are more likely to develop with more feminine qualities.

There have been multiple studies on this, yet they don’t garner the attention that most do.

This is where I think this seemingly new generation of gender confusion comes from. Not just teaching that boys are bad, but bombarding the male population with estrogen.

Im also for keeping government out of the bedroom. And whether you choose to make God a part of it is your choice.

Oh, and media, BTW… we have an upcoming nuclear nation that wants to establish its own theocracy across the world, and has said in paper and word that it will do it by blood and fire. We are also 15 trillion in debt. you have a job to do… go do it.

  18. Jim Says:

Hey he may be on to something.

Just look at the replacement rates in Japan, Germany, Russia, and most of the western world. If not for immigration(legal and invasion), most would be in decline. It seems that once you are wealthy and educated you stop having kids.

Japan may have other problems. I read a recent study that said 60 percent or so of teen age girls were not interested in sex.

I can easily forsee a day when contraception is illegal or parents are given a child bounty for giving birth.

Someone has to wipe my tail when I hit 100. So you kids need to get cracking.

  19. Tasso Rampante Says:

Oh, I’ve followed the link, you’re still wrong. Why is it that a person with differing views from you is conflated in your mind with forcing you to comply with his views? He never proposed any government action at all, and in fact has publicly stated the exact opposite.

If your concept of liberty is that you must force every one to agree with your views, then Uncle, you can count me out.

  20. El Bombardero Says:

More proof of the silly charade that politics has become.

  21. Sebastian not the blogger Says:

Regardless of whether Santorum thinks the issue merely boils down to whether employers have the right to violate federal laws and ignore the parts they don’t like despite taking lots of federal money and tax exemptions…or whether he really is ready to go on a full scare war on rubbers, the guy actually thinks contraception is evil.

He’s using a book written 3000 years ago by people who thought the earth was the center of the universe and stoning gay people was appropriate to weigh in on public policy.

Anyone dumb enough to do that is too fucking dumb to be POTUS.

    The end.

  22. SGB Says:

Santorum, aside from his views on sex, is a hypocrite. I don’t want Obama either but I know Santorum can’t beat Obama. Period. Santorum would assure a landslide victory for Obama.

  23. HL Says:

Governemnt is run by people who think Washington, DC is the center of the universe…and they have the benefit of science. Nothing has changed.

Anyone who pursues The Presidency is unfit to serve.

  24. LissaKay Says:

Hmmm … blah blah blah media bias … blah context blah: http://bit.ly/ygl5BW

    Nice try.

  25. dan Says:

I’m sorry. I will vote for the devil I don’t know, to beat the devil I know. Okay, maybe not Paul…but Santorum? Yes.

  26. Some Guy Says:

Santorum/Gingrich/Perry/Paul are all idiots. All they have to do to win is say, “I’m not Mitt Romney, and I’m not from Massachusetts.”

Instead, they can’t help themselves, and they disqualify themselves.

  27. Crawler Says:

For the next nine months anything that’s being reported by the media regarding any “R” presidential candidate should be always be divided by ten.

Besides, I don’t give a shit if the “Rs” run a literate “reborn” wino for president, he’ll get my vote because O’ and his supporting cast of Marxists have to go.

    It’s that important to me…

  28. Paul Says:

    I’m all for Santorum.

If you want contraception, pay for it on your own dime.

It is not a basic medical need like surgery, or antibiotics, or E.R. treatment.

  29. Brad Says:

Sigh. If only people panicked half as much over the talk from a socialist as they do from a bible thumper.

So. Did Santorum ever do anything as an office holder, you know real life policies, laws and such, to warrant the castigation falling on him now? Do you really think Santorum is a theocratic tyrant in waiting? Talk from a politician is cheap, especially when it’s talk pandering to a special interest. What really matters is what a politician does in office.

Even with all of Santorum’s Catholic baggage, I’m still shocked that anyone thinks Romney is more electable. At least Santorum won more than a single election during his career.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
