Glock the book

Some reviews here and here. I’ve been reading Glock: The Rise of America’s Gun on and off and it’s a good read into the history of the gun industry in general in the 80s and 90s. Lots of stuff I knew but forgot I knew. For instance, how Glock beat S&W to market on the .40S&W caliber that S&W invented.

Also, a quote from the former head of marketing for S&W and Glock that goes something like this: The gun magazines are just shills for the gun manufacturers.

Im not an anti-glock guy in any way.

But had they not hurried the .40’s maybe they wouldnt have the ‘Grenade’ reputation now.

I wonder if it was worth it?

I’m listening to it on tape while I drive. So far (chapter 4) it has been pretty interesting and fair/not biased.

He also had a stellar interview on NPR today.

Let me guess, the person quoted was Sherry Collins? She would know given that her PR gigs at S&W and Glock were separated by holding the editor’s desk at “Handgunning”, a defunct sister publication of “Shooting Times”.

    Yup.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
