Stupid question

No one is abetting a crime here. The question is false in its premise and not deserving of an answer.

  1. Weer'd Beard Says:

Not to mention that in places where private sales have been partially or completely eliminated by law the criminal element is still armed, and the ATF trace data still shows the majority of guns traced in a given state are traced back to that state.

So even if it was a valid question, the “Solution” has been proven not to work.

To be more explicit on what I think Uncle’s point is (and as I said over at PA), you cannot abet a crime without knowing it.

“Abetting” as a legal term (mostly replaced with “accomplice” rather than “abettor” in the US, but the principle is the same, and what little “abetting” language we still have in the codes agrees) requiring mens rea; you have to know that you’re helping someone commit a crime.

“Not knowing if the guy is prohibited or not, apart from his word saying he isn’t” is just not abetting, unless we redefine the word.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
