Corporations do not pay taxes. It’s common knowledge that those costs would be passed to consumers. And that’s more the figurative sense. However, in the real sense, they don’t pay them either. Of course not. They also have tax departments and consultants that do their tax planning with the goal in mind of minimizing or eliminating paying taxes.
I do like the spin that a company has a negative tax rate. Seems actually using tax credits makes you evil!
Years back, I stopped altogether giving money to the Fraternal Order of Police for their support of the ban on weapons that look like assault weapons. While they’ve opposed gun control since, I’ve yet to see them actually go back and rescind their support for the ban on the most popular rifles in the country. So, I kinda thought they’d given it up and maybe I could go back to sending them money. Now, however, they’re standing behind Eric Holder. I don’t think I’d mind all that much if this wasn’t timed right before he’s about to testify on ATF allowing guns to flow into Mexico.

A bit back, a guy in Philly was pulled over by police; had his guns and carry permit confiscated; and, generally, his civil rights violated. The police pulled him over because of his wookiee-suiter bumper stickers. It went to court and a jury sided with the cops.

A discussion of terminology: Assault rifle, modern sporting rifle, assault weapons. I don’t think it matters anymore what we call them. It used to. And, believe me, I’ve spent a lot a of time distinguishing between the made up term assault weapon and the misused term assault rifle for years. But I think we’re passed that. Doesn’t matter anymore. The AR-15 is now mainstream and the most popular semi-auto firearm out there. Sure, it’s technically wrong to call them assault rifles or assault weapons but I don’t think that distinction matters much in the political discourse. Unless we start calling them baby-killing, hippie-punching purveyors of death or something, it won’t make one wit of difference. The anti-gunners will lie. And they will still lose.
That we’re even having this debate means we’re winning.

Those trusted with enforcing gun laws instead broke them and allowed guns to flow to dangerous criminals. This resulted in, by some estimates, hundreds of deaths including that of border patrol agent. Obviously, it means we need more gun control.
Good question: How do all these security precautions keep someone from entering the campus and shooting students?
