eBay stupidity

eBay, generally, won’t let you sell things that can’t be sold in California. Because, as we all know, it is apparently the cultural center of the universe. The utopia we should all strive to live in. It’s even worse when the California AG posts expired and bogus information that eBay uses to restrict free trade:

I am hoping that with enough comments the AG will remove the expired information or at the very least make a very visible notice on the page that the information is no longer law. Its not just for my business but for the rights of all gun owners.

It is the cultural center of the universe.. When you graduate from the school of hardknocks and decide to be a professional criminal. As for ebay how is this a shock.. They are total pricks when it comes to paypal. I would expect nothing less from them…

Tried to sell am M14E2 stock on there once, basically just the wood. It bid up to $200 in about 15 minutes before it was canceled. They wouldn’t tell me, and after extensively searching I was unable to find a rule it violated. Just someone being a dick, I think.

Not quite true, but close enough. They have SKS stocks on sale, which they will not let a user ship to CA, since (somehow) will turn my fixed magazine sks. I should mention that being a fixed magazine makes it exempt from semi automatic assault weapon laws in CA.

Thanks for posting my story. I had a stock for an AR. They cancelled it saying the “buffer tube” was a suppressor! They cancelled a mall mounted rechargeable flashlight because it was called an M11 and eBay feared it could be mount on an assault rifle. I can’t use the word “AR” to even sell a 5.56mm Otis cleaning kit.

But having the California AG website post expired laws as valid is ridiculous.

Like it or not, E-bay has the right to operate its own site by any standards or rules it determines to be appropriate. The site is their property. They own it. You can freely choose to not do business with them if you like. You also have many other online options for selling firearms and related items. I can’t understand all the whining.

  6. Roberta X Says:

If eBay — a California company — gets sued, do they get sued in CA courts? Because then their policies would (almost) make sense.

  7. Nope. Says:

I hope this gets caught in moderation…

Unc, send me an email and delete my contact info from your logs, please?

    Ebay sucks!

I think a few commentors missed my point.

Its the California Attorney General’s website that is posting expired laws as current. I admit eBay is anti-gun and that is their right, but the AG should not be hosting expired laws that allow anti-gun companies like eBay to ‘misinform’ people. Its like CNN quoting Obama that ‘90% of Mexican guns come from the US’. Sure CNN needs to fact check but the Whitehouse shouldn’t make false statements in the first place.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
