Why would anyone need high capacity magazines?

When does the WI carry law go into effect?

Racially charged mob attacking innocent fair-goers:

Witnesses’ accounts claim everything from dozens to hundreds of young black people beating white people as they left State Fair Thursday night.

Another case for my recent switch to a full sized 9mm. 18 in the gun and two 17 round magazines. That can be very persuasive, even to a mob.

Update: Mob defensive tactics. Go.

My plan, get me and the family the hell out as fast as I can. Keep gun close and tucked in so it’s harder to grab. Beyond that, tough spot to be outnumbered dozens to one.

+1 to JoeG. Running away is a great idea when one is confronted with a mob. Many situations will not improve if you engage in gunplay! I was at DC’s 1975 “Day of Human Kindness” concert: 125,000 concertgoers, 500 robberies and 600 injuries, and 150 people treated at hospitals! I was there as a teen and was almost crushed in several stampedes. Crowds should be shunned, especially if youths are going to be present. No reason to settle for less with a 9mm. My Beretta Storm PX4 has 3 round magazine extensions bringing each magazine to 17. My normal load out is 17 in the gun and 2 mags on the off side. Total of 51 rounds of .40 goodness.

Yet they were lumped in what the others by the sweeping generalization.

    @Braden Lynch

No doubt. He’s the whitest black man that they could find. Nevertheless, the number isn’t 100%. And when people make an unqualified statement that “blacks do/are X” it includes all members, which:
    – is demonstrably untrue
    – is insulting to a great number of sensible people
    – makes the fact that libertarians/conservatives want a color blind society that deals with individuals rather than groups just so much bullshit
    – and takes away any moral high ground that libertarians/conservatives have to play victim when people make sweeping generalizations about them

Wisconsin has a new concealed-carry law, ya know

What on earth are you folks waiting for… shoot them

  5. Paden Cash Says:

Have any of you 9mm fans ever been in front of a 44mag when it goes off. The sound and shock wave are impressive. If you are part of a mob and someone shoots at you with a 9mm, you may not understand why the guy next to you just fell down. Crowd noise is likely to drown out the sound of the firearm discharge. A 44mag makes a big noise and sends out a powerful shockwave that will be felt by the front line of the mob. If your aim is a large body count, then the hi cap mags are your best option. If you wish to dissuade a mob from attacking you, I posit that a 44mag is the better weapon.

  6. Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner Says:

But how many are willing to, or actually can, carry around an N-frame revolver?

  7. horn Says:

We had a flash mob of black teens here in Philadelphia a few weeks ago, they started beating on every white woman and man and kid they could find. They broke a young woman’s leg and she had to go to the hospital, plus several other similar incidents. I was a few blocks away when I saw the mob arrive, it was very scary even though they were all 14-16ish instead of fully grown.

Of course, when it was reported by the liberal papers they didn’t mention any racial angle, nope, nothing to see here, all the victims are white, nah, plz move along.

  8. Jim Says:

Some of you folks don’t know inner city black folks.

You shoot, the crowd will run. We aren’t talking about an “In sh’allah” crowd or a pack of starving Somali’s.

There have been a hand full of comedy routines that discuss this very distinctive, learned survival skill of the inner city.

But more importantly, there is a ton of video footage that shows this very response. In fact, there was a rap video shoot just down the street from my house. Predictably, there was gun play. The director caught most of the action. EVERYONE sought cover. Instantly. Even the pregnant lady who was hit made a valiant effort to flee the shooter.

My advice? Give a few of the front runners a noodle and make your escape in the ensuing confusion.

  9. Paden Cash Says:

Jim: Don’t forget to hold your gun sideways so you look COOL while not hitting anything. lol. Seriously, you hit a good point. Very few will stand against or charge a person discharging a firearm in their direction. Police and combat veterans are usually the only ones that would do that and only if they are conducting a counterattack.
Mobs by definition are untrained civilians, rarely with any personal reason to be involved worth risking their lives for.
    Roland: I am and do.

  10. Braden Lynch Says:

@junyo: I agree sweeping generalizations are silly.

I probably did not make my point well. Let me expand a bit. I did not say that it was ALL blacks voting for him. The turnout for black voters was historic and the percentage who voted for him was extremely high. Note, that’s not so outrageous given that blacks usually vote for the Democrats.

What I find disturbing is how easy it was to discern that he was unqualified (or at least untested) and a far left candidate, yet moderates and independents voted for him in HUGE numbers. Granted McCain is an idiot, but the breathlessness of the reporting and election coverage made it clear that it was really about his race. Racism works in all directions.

Then there is the fact that the charge of racism is used too often against those who disagree with his leftist policies. I support/subscribe to the color blind society notion, but I wish the Democrats would do so also.

“But how many are willing to, or actually can, carry around an N-frame revolver?” –Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner

Roland, I once read an column by a guy named Col. Dan , a carrier of a .45 Colt revolver about which he wrote, “it may not be comfortable, but it’s comforting.”

  12. Jerry Says:

Damn, that made my eyes hurt. I shall now stop reading ANYTHING for the next week, or so.

@#40 Pepper spray in one’s weak hand might be a useful “poor man’s” area pain agent.

This makes me think of a blog post of someone’s friend who occasionally uses a messenger bag with a AK pistol as a “carry piece”. That said I wouldn’t want to be him during a traffic offense in Canton, OH.

  14. Newbius Says:

I avoid the crowds. If they insist on pressing, I carry my XDm-45 (13+1 in the gun, and 13×2 as spares). I NEVER want to be in a situation where I have to use them…

  15. chris Says:

I loaded up on Glock 9mm (33rd) and AR-15 mags at the gun show yesterday.

Lots of mags – but no guns.

I am worried about Obama issuing an Executive Order banning the manufacture and import of normal capacity mags.

My plan, don’t live in or go to an area where large numbers of young black men can or do congregate. Ever.

If you live in such and area,if you care about your your family, get out now. That’s the reality, my friends.

  17. styrgwillidar Says:

You are talking about STANDARD CAPACITY or as chris said at 65 NORMAL CAPACITY magazines for your chosen weapon. Stop calling them ‘high capacity’– high capacity for pistols are 20+, for ARs it’s over 30.

Anything less are reduced capacity/low capacity.

So your title should be Why I don’t carry REDUCED capacity mags.

  18. Ted N Says:

67, way to go captain timely, the title was snark. Unc’s been all over mag cap issues for quite awhile now. Thanks for the lecture though.

  19. Speakertweaker Says:

67: All the FN FiveseveN and KelTec PMR-30 owners would like a word with you about your definition of std. vs. high capacity.

66: My plan, don’t live in or go to an area where large numbers of young black men can or do congregate. Ever. Fuck you.

    That’s the reality, my friends.

And you are not my friend. Get off my side, please.

  20. Sebastiano Wino Says:

What happened to Rich Vail happened to my friend Mat Kasper in downtown Baltimore last month; he was riding his bike through Baltimore’s glistening Inner Harbor and a black youth with a few fellow gangstas decided to punch him in the nose as he rode by and then split like the cowards they were.

20 minutes later, the cops finally showed up.

my plan is to start the ass kicking with people like you.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
