Calibers on hand

Compared to Tam, I’m a piker. I keep .380, 6.8SPC, 22LR, 5.56, 9mm and 45acp.

  1. Tam Says:

Some of ’em keep longer than others. For instance, a 20-rd box of 8mm Lebel has lasted me over five years now, whereas my ammo can full of .22LR keeps mysteriously turning up empty. 😉

  2. Jeffrey H Says:

    I only have .22LR, 9mm, and .30-06.

  3. Tam Says:

I forgot that I still have a 6.8SPC barrel and bolt for my AR. 😮

  4. Jeff the Baptist Says:

.22lr, .223/5.56, 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 9mm, .45acp, and .30 carbine. I might have some .22 magnum lying around since I have a gun chambered for it, but I know I’ve never shot that pistol.

  5. Cayton Says:

    12 gauge .45acp, 7.62×39, .380

  6. OHIO SHAWN Says:

OK, yeah, Tam has most of us beat, but I would point out most of us have never worked at a gun store. If we’re admitting things:
I only keep 22lr, 9mm, and .223/5.56 on hand in amounts worth mentioning in the house AND I have at least two guns that I have owned for multiple years that I have never fired, not even once. Oh, wait, back that up, I also keep 12g and 20g on hand and I have a Saiga that I’ve never fired as well, so that makes 3 guns never used.
I own a .357 mag that only has the rounds that are in it (well, next to it, I don’t store it loaded), my .380 has half a box of ammo and for some reason I own two 20 round boxes of 30-30, yet I have never owned such a gun.
I always have good intentions of getting out to the range with the entire collection and giving every gun its due, but invariably when the rubber meets the road, my range guns end up being my cc guns, all my 22’s, and one or another of my 5.56 rifles. I think I’m in a rut.

    .45ACP
    .44 Magnum
    .357 Magnum
    .38 Special
    .22LR
    9x19mm
    .380ACP
    .40sw
    .357sig
    .303 Brit
    7.62x54R
    7.62×51 NATO
    7.62×39
    .30-’06
    5.56×45
    12ga
And a bunch of exotic stuff I only have a few pieces of or a box of because they’re just cool

  8. Sean Says:

When I want to return an item without receipt, Walmart issues store credit, which I usually then trade for a 550 brick of Federal .22lr.

You do that little move a dozen times and you almost can shoot it fast enough.

  9. Rivrdog Says:

Take Jim S list, pull off the .357 Sig, the 30-06 and the 5.56, and add in .243 Winchester, .32 ACP, .32 NAA, 20 gauge, .44 Special and .22 Short and you have my list.

  10. Jake Says:

    .22lr, .380ACP, .45ACP, and .308Win (and I’m actually out of .45 at the moment).

    I may still have part of a box of .38spl from when I owned a S&W 442.

  11. North Says:

    Huh. I don’t have any ammo that doesn’t start with a ‘.’

  12. ErnestM Says:

    .45acp, 9mm, .22lr, .380, 5.7×28 and 5.56 in quantity. 12g, 7.62×39 in sparse amounts (sub 500 rounds)

I can’t help it with the 5.7×28. Whenever it goes on sale, I get this feeling of it being discontinued and I fire up the credit card. The PS90 and FiveseveN is just too much fun to shoot and I don’t want to run out (and my life is just too damned busy to learn proper 5.7 reloading techniques)

5.56 (especially lake city stuff) always seems to follow me home from gun shows (even if I can’t find anything else worth buying) and always seems to be “on special” wheneever the 5.7 stuff is. In for a penny, etc.

  13. Bubblehead Les Says:

.22lr,.25ACP, .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .40 S+W, .30 Carbine, 6.5 Swede, 8mm Mauser, 12 gauge. But for some reason, the Wife seems to have this Silly Idea that that’s enough.

  14. Stuart the Viking Says:

    Guess it’s my turn.

    .22LR
    .380
    .38Spl
    9mm
    .357Mag
    .45ACP
    .44Mag
    12ga

I would be willing to bet that my list is close to “the usual” for most people give or take a few and maybe add a rifle round (or two). Since I don’t currently hunt and I am stuck living in the city, a rifle purchase keeps getting pushed to the back burner for now. Sad… I know…

  15. Beaumont Says:

My list is similar to Jim’s, with the addition of .43 Spanish, .32-20, .351 Win SL, and .30 Remington. I believe in caliber diversity.

  16. Huck Says:

    .22 LR
    .38 special
    .45 ACP
    .45 Colt
    .45-70 Government
    .303 British
    .223/5.56mm
    12 gauge

  17. Ian Argent Says:

    .22lr and 9x19mm. What?

(Oddly enough, almost all the .22lr is hollowpoint. Who says HP is illegal in NJ again? And why can’t I find plated ball anywhere?)

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
