A threat

Some shitty musician in an appropriately named band threatens to punch a gun blogger in the face because gun nuts are so violent. Or something. He also happens to have been a democrat candidate for office. But, like his music, it wasn’t a success. His wife is a lawyer and you would think she might tell him she’s tired of supporting him and he should put the bong down and get a real job. Or that playing mediocre music won’t put any progeny through school. And a lawyer might also tell him that threats of violence in a public arena are probably a bad idea. And that google is forever, you know, should he decide to actually get a real job, which is unlikely. Obligatory making fun ensues. He retorts:

In several of my comments, I made derogatory remarks directed at the trolls. I said some nasty stuff. Some colorful language was used. I stand by that language. I also stand by my offer to face them one on one and punch these idiots in their faces. That’s how I roll.

Why are anti-gun activists and musicians so violent? Clearly, we should ban mediocre music. And bongs.

If he threatened me, I’d go to a local judge and get a restraining order taken out against him. That’s how I roll. Because I don’t have something to prove. To my wife.

What state is he in? He can punch me in the face. I just hope he has deep pockets, because I know a lot of hungry lawyers.

  2. Fûzf Says:

    Aren’t bongs already outlawed?

  3. Fred Says:

Most places bongs aren’t actually illegal till you put pot in them. That’s how places can sell them with a little notice that they are “for tobacco use only.”

Is it any wonder why his bid for office failed?

  4. Skipelec Says:

Hey, I’m just an old phart, but if he wants to swing by here I could use a little workout.
I love kickin’ the shit out of hippies.

  5. Bugs Says:

I heard about this a few days ago, went to the website, and read what was there. Bob’s comments had been removed. I assumed he must have been a jerk. Now, they’re back up. After reading the whole thread, I feel sorry for anyone that employs this lawyer, and I feel sorry for her being married to such a tool.

  6. Justthisguy Says:

What did I tell you about electric guitars and the guys who own them? I mean, Billy Beck is nice to his kitty, and makes rational comments about economics and politics, and has attempted to build a Fly Baby, and all, but, hell, he has a “Guitarded” category on his blog. I think that’s why he talks so mean!:-^

  7. Patrick Says:

Waaaa! What a freakin’ cry baby he is… his wifey got mad and now he’s gonna be all tough guy… Fuck him and his whore assed wife. She wouldn’t get attacked, if she’d kept her mouth shut about guns.

Like to see him come punch me. Mofo would be pushing up daisies when I got done with ’em.

    😡

  8. Justthisguy Says:

P.s. If I ever get up enough money for an NRA Life Membership, I intend to try to get Ted Nugent voted off of the board. From the rumint I’ve read, it was either Jeff Cooper or Joe Foss who dressed him down for using bad language when ladies were present. I hate yankee rednecks, who are the worst kind; even more so when they are electric guitarists.

  9. Justthisguy Says:

Patrick, Do you hang out in sports bars? I mean, you kinda seem like that guy, yourself.

  10. kahr40 Says:

REstraining order? That would work. Even better, an arrest warrant for communicating a threat as well. That’d give his wife something to do other than post stupid comments on her blog.

Perhaps, but none of those places are in the US where posession of “drug paraphenilia” is a federal crime, as Tommy Chong could tell you.

  12. Adam Lawson Says:

Rob Russell sounds like a classic “internet tough guy”.

In other words; I wonder what he’s trying to overcompensate for by trying so very hard to appear masculine?

  13. Bobby Says:

So… he issues an open threat to come to the homes of peaceful gun owners and kill them. (“face punched in”= Death, therefore, to me, it is a death threat, not just a threat of violence)

This guy, he’s a smart one.

What did he expect but mass ridicule by people completely un-afraid of him or his threats?

  14. Linoge Says:

I tried, and failed, to get this picked up by Insty, so I guess I will just have to make do with an Uncleanche ;).

For those of us in-state, a restraining order is definitely the best first step, but, unfortunately, I am not sure it will matter so much for a guy from Texas (Bob S.). I notice Rob Russell’s reigns seem to have been pulled in, so they are probably hoping the whole situation will simply blow over and disappear – I guess we will see.

  15. Patrick Says:

    Justthisguy, Two Words.

    Fuck Off

  16. comatus Says:

So sad this had to come up on The King’s birthday.

  17. SayUncle Says:

Leave the petty insults to the crappy anti-gun musicians.

  18. Dave Says:

On a side note, I am sick of idiots who describe themselves as idiots and excuse it with the cliche “that’s just how I roll” as if that somehow makes it ok. What a magic phrase that is. If only Jeffrey Dalmer, John Wayne Gacy and Hitler had uttered those wonderful words, I’m sure history’s judgement would have been a little more kind.

  19. Hyman Roth Says:

Justthisguy, please don’t waste our time with the inane rantings and chivalric posturing of Jeff Cooper (the original mall ninja).

  20. Weer'd Beard Says:

Hey hey, say what you will about Jocks, musicians, Elvis, and Jesus…but Leave Col. Cooper out of this!

    : ]

  21. Hyman Roth Says:

Weer’d, Cooper was a REMF blowhard. Never heard a shot fired in anger, which is about what could be expected of Gen. Vandergrift’s staff training officer (Cooper’s role in the battle of Guadalacanal, the closest he ever got to combat).

His evasive, cutesy answers when asked about his combat experience sickened me. Which is Mauve, or is it Chartreuse, on the Cooper color scale.

  22. ATLien Says:

The only thing i got out of this is that they apparently give out law degrees in Happy Meals now.

  23. DirtCrashr Says:

Schickelgruber, “Jah, das ist how mein Panzers roll – dude-man.”

Looks like Rob Russell and his wife have Memory Hole’d all posts talking about “Gun Trolls” or punching of faces. Just wiped them off the map.

He stands by his words….but he’ll delete them all and pretend he never said them.

    SUPER Classy!

  25. comatus Says:

Weer’d, surely you’ve seen what an on-line victory looks like before. It’s the Leave No Trace school of rhetoric. It may be invisible now, but it still smells like napalm [and burnt tires] in the morning.

  26. SayUncle Says:

so much for ‘standing by it’.

  27. Weer'd Beard Says:

I’ve been linking this post by MikeW for this whole debacle.

MikeW. has some Nostradamus-like powers predicting EXACTLY how this all played out ALMOST A YEAR AGO!
    http://anothergunblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/sad-but-predictable.html

Either that or anti-gun advocates are amazingly predictable.

Heh, that’s how they ALL ROLL! ; ]

  28. Tam Says:

    “Hyman Roth”,

There is a certain irony involved in accusing a dead man of cowardice and prevarication whilst hiding behind a pseudonym one’s own self. You’ll pardon me for taking your allegations with a grain of salt, the same way I take old war stories.

  29. Hyman Roth Says:

Tam says: “There is a certain irony involved in accusing a dead man of cowardice and prevarication whilst hiding behind a pseudonym one’s own self. You’ll pardon me for taking your allegations with a grain of salt, the same way I take old war stories.”

You grossly mis-state my position, “Tam”. And the facts speak for themselves; I don’t traffic in allegations. Whether he wanted to see action or not, Cooper didn’t engage in combat. Which means his advice on such matters is suspect, at best.

I am very familiar with Cooper’s words and deeds, hence my low opinion of his combat advice. You clearly are not well-acquainted with his background, yet you mindlessly place him on a pedestal. Hmmm…can you give me some of that salt for when I read your opinions?

In any case, worship the blowhard if it suits you. I prefer to take my advice on self-defense from proven experts like Jim Cirillo. Credibility is important.

  30. Linoge Says:

Less than a week later, and Rob Russell has pulled his entire webpage:

    http://www.wallsofthecity.net/2010/01/rob_russell_is_a_coward.html

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
