The Gay Gap

A point made here before but opposition to gay marriage is tied to age:

If people over 65 in each state made the laws, 0 states would have gay marriage; if people under 30 made the laws, 38 states would have gay marriage.

If they would stop insisting that it be called marriage, and not simply classified as marriage under the law, 48 States would have Homosexual Monogamy, or as I like to call it, Homotrimony. Then it would be legal even in states that have laws that say “Marriage is defined as blah, blah, blah”.

I support Homosexual Monogamy, but not “Gay Marriage”.

  2. Matt Groom Says:

    P.S. I’m 27.

  3. SayUncle Says:

    Ah, separate but equal.

  4. Manish Says:

Lets call it Heterosexual Monogamy and Homosexual Monogamy..or just People Monogamy.

  5. DAve Says:

And that, my friends, is the new real focus of public education-
so many 18-year olds can’t read or write because the new focus is indoctrination.
The Soviets/communists/socialists realized finally that what they couldn’t conquer militarily they could do by overtaking our institutions.
So all the guys that were too big of pussies to go to Vietnam like everyone else stayed in college instead and became the tenured professors of education who have through their influence and teaching formed the teachers and administrators who have turned our public schools into cesspools of America-hating.
    And white straight Christian male-hating.
Students of today may not know all the words of the flag salute but they’ve many times seen how to roll a condom onto a banana-

  6. Zak Says:

I don’t even know how to respond to Dave’s post. If public schools are cesspools of hatred for America and straight Christian males, why are there so many Christian Student Unions? You sir, are filled with paranoia, and I would say just as close to ruining America as those who want to erase the Second Amendment.

  7. Dan Says:

Wish there was a Christian student union when I went to high school.

Anyway, the death panels will change all this.

  8. M Gallo Says:

    “Ahhh, separate but equal.”

Words mean things, Uncle. The word “marriage” has a meaning far older than our society. Calling an AR-15 an assault rifle makes some people angry, calling two men buggering “married” makes other people angry. I know in your great Libertarian wisdom you might think it’s just semantics, but words mean things. Personally, I don’t give a shit either way any more.

Besides, comparing discrimination based on skin color (an inherent trait) verses discrimination based on personal choices in sexual preference (a choice) is fallacious.

  9. SayUncle Says:

Yes. They mean things. And calling marriage ‘schmarriage’ doesn’t change that it’s marriage.

You think sexual preference is a choice? Know any gay people?

  10. Phelps Says:

And if you had done the same poll in 1985, the results would have been similar. We keep hearing about all the massive changes that are going to happen as soon as those grumpy old people die off and get out of the way.

Here’s a news flash for you — by the time the current grumpy old people die off, you will have become a grumpy old person just like them.

  11. Ellen Rose Says:

“…a grumpy old person just like them…”? It doesn’t work that way. When I was a kid, grumpy old people had ill-fitting, annoying dentures. Today, that’s less common. They were often more tired, more hurting, and poorer. A lot of “grumpy” comes from pain and dysfunction; and existential angst aside, growing old today puts off the pain and dysfunction for a decade or two on average.

I’m a lot more conservative now than I was when I was young; but I’ve always been pretty libertarian about it. I see no reason to change that.

  12. Captain Holly Says:

People who think gay marriage is just around the corner once those reactionary old geezers die off should remember that many of those reactionary old geezers were hippies back in the ’60s.

They’re making the same mistake the Democrats made in 1972: Just because 18 year-olds can vote doesn’t mean they will vote, or vote the way you want them to.

  13. ParatrooperJJ Says:

Zak – you really should read about the founders of the NEA (teacher’s union.) They deliberately designed the public education system to create a worker class that can’t think for themselves. They have been very successful. You don’t think the plunging literacy rate of public school graduates is an accident do you?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
