Looks familiar

Much like the Heller case, a lot of state Attorneys General are supporting the right side of the gun rights issue:

Two-thirds of the nation’s attorneys general have filed an amicus brief asking the U.S. Supreme Court to grant certiorari in the case of NRA v. Chicago and hold that the Second Amendment applies to state and local governments through the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. This bi-partisan group of 33 attorneys general, along with the Attorney General of California in a separate filing, agrees with the NRA’s position that the Second Amendment protects a fundamental individual right to keep and bear arms in the home for self-defense, disagreeing with the decision recently issued by a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

That includes Jerry Governor Moonbeam Brown. Seriously.

Jerry Governor Moonbeam Brown, the Attorney General of CA, submitted a separate amicus brief that reads as a special plea to the Supreme Court not to strike down the California Safe Handgun Registry.

This is the list of guns that Californians may buy, which omits guns of the same make and model but different frame colors. It is essentially a means to limit the availability of handguns to California guns purchasers, through an onerous and expensive registration process put on the gun manufacturers. It results in limited availability and higher prices on CA guns, without adding any benefit whatsoever for the safety of the consumer. There is zero, I repeat zero, benefit to the consumer from the existence of this limitation on California consumer choice.

I hope the Supreme Court strikes down this CA idiocy while it is handling the incorporation issue, but I expect Alan Gura will have to work that into his DC lawsuits.

  2. Harvey Says:

Could that mean two-thirds of the nations Attorneys General disagree with the opinion of the current nominee for the Supreme Court. HMMM

  3. Drew Says:

I noticed that TN Attorney General Cooper was not on the list. I put in a call to his office. I’ll let y’all know when they call me back.

  4. Blake Says:

Sure as the world…there will be some idiotic Nashville attorneys who say that it really aren’t 33 attorney generals in on this and that by some twisted definition that most of them are actually against the 2nd Amendment.

  5. DAve Says:

CAreful what you wish for… if Moonbeam’s for it there’s a BAD REASON-
probably the states are planning on pushing through something very stupid and don’t want the feds to be able to stop it-
the exact opposite of Roe v. Wade-
All the gun sites seem to think this is the bee’s knees but I guarantee ya Moonbeam is absolutely not doing ANYTHING if he thinks it will lead to more 2A rights.
Please spread the word- Mikee is very correct about this and the naivete of our colleagues on this is very disturbing-

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
