Due process

McCarthy (D-Futile) is introducing a bill that prohibits those on the no-fly list from buying guns. Of course, we have no way of knowing we’re on the list and the list has nabbed some senators before. So, what could possibly go wrong?

Yeah, and that Due Process thingy seems to get trampled when a government agency can unilaterally decide who can buy guns and who cannot.

So, can anyone see to it that Rep. McCarthy is on that list…? How would we do it?

    Would she notice?

Wouldn’t this be arbitrarily denying civil rights? I thought liberals opposed such.

The libs do, but only rights that the libs approve of.

    From the linked site:

[I]n January 2005, the GAO reported that in a five-month period—February 3, 2004 through June 30, 2004—NICS checks resulted in an estimated 650 terrorist-related record hits in their databases.

How are they getting that data without that registry that’s not supposed to exist? If they’re already checking NICS checks against a watch list, where do they get the legal authority to do so?

It sounds like the system is already being abused. How much further will they go when the current abuse becomes legal?

Libs ain’t really liberal then. If libs were liberal then they would be liberal with all of our rights.

I’m conservative of ALL of the Bill of Rights for ALL Citizens,(that is, as they are read according to plain English) so I suppose I’m liberal with ALL of our Rights.

On the other hand…this could open up the No-Fly List to some much needed sunshine and scrutiny. My guess is that when it gets said sunshine and scrutiny, it won’t last 24 hours but will be immediately enjoined from use.
