Arlen Specter will apparently do anything to stay in power. He has switched parties. Will his gun votes change too? He is A-Rated by NRA. This could give Democrats the magic 60 to be filibuster proof.
He says the Republican party moved too far right. Really? When? Seem to be headed the other way to me.
Interesting times.

Well if by “Right” he means “Big Govenment, Athoritarian” then that makes sense.

If your on the bus everyone else looks like they’re moving right. It’s relative motion anyway, seeing as how he has been voting Dem. for the last few months/years? perhaps a better chioce will standup, but in this stadium I don’t see why one would. better to let the chips get restacked first then back the winner, or at least that is the appearant actions of most politcans.

Perfect example of TERM LIMITS! 30 years of that ass.
The country has been dragged kicking and screaming to the left by the progressives and the left. McSame’s daughter is writing a book about being a “progressive republican” according to Yahoo news the other day. Glenn Beck’s been talking about progressives lately too.
It’s long past time for reinstating the 2 party system.

I find “Switch” to be a very misleading headline.
Might I suggest: “Specter comes out of the closet”.
He is now what he has always been… the only difference is that after 3 decades he has finally owned up to it.

This is NO loss and is NO surprise, now if John McCain would go ahead and join his Dem buddies… A RINO at best… Why be Dem-Lite when you can be a full blown, socialist supporting Dem??
I am hoping the American people send a message to DC in 2010 and again in 2012, but NOT with RINOs, we need real Conservatives, not Repubs, RINOs and Dem hacks…

My boss told me this today. He said that Arlen Specter was becoming a Democrat, and the first thing that pops into my head is “I thought Arlen Specter WAS a Democrat.”
Now the Democrats will be able to pass any legislation they want! No change. Now the Democrats will be able to say and do anything they want! No change. Now the Democrats will be allowed to get away with murder and nobody will question them! No change.

Specter helped derail the impeachment of Clinton.
We likely would have had at least 4 years of Al Gore as president had Specter not screwed the Republicans back then. There is a rule of unintended consequences blog post waiting to be written on National Review Online or Townhall about this delicious irony.
I wonder if anyone will ask GW Bush about his decision to support Specter in his last primary fight. Party loyalty overcame rational thought for some reason there.
