I can’t quite make out what we’re looking at here in the grocery store plastic bag.

Is that pistol partly disassembled, with the barrel protruding through the end of the slide? Or is the slide just locked back?

Hopefully it’s a Hi-point or Haskell (the 1980s equivalent of a Hi-point, manufactured here in Northwest Ohio) that’s worth a fraction of what the city is paying.

Fun Hi-point story: When I took my CCW course, one of the guys in there brought his prized Hi-point, and lucky me, he stood next to me at the firing line as we performed the required marksmanship test (hitting an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper from about 12 feet with 5 rounds.) The spent casings from his Hi-point came out at random angles, hitting me with a few — I stopped shooting and put my weapon on the table, lest I do the hot-casing dance and shoot someone in the dick.

Reading down the rest of the postings once again reinforces my disinclination to travel to that side of the big river.

  3. Rick Says:

Like the Pastafarian, I had a classmate slinging a Hi-Point during the qualification portion. He of course held it “gangsta” and had a hard time meeting the percentage of hits.

That “buyback” is offering $25 per “high capacity” magazine. You can buy 30 round AR mags at Cabelas for under $10.

  5. Joe Says:

Ravenwood – I’m now hoping that Memphis will do something similar, as long as there is ample notice and no maximums. I’d love to stock up AR mags just to go generate a 250% ROI.

I hope she knows that she will need a friggin’ Maryland HQL now to buy that bigger gun .

  7. MattCFII Says:

Looking at the frame shelf and the rounded slide at the muzzle end, it would seems it would be a Makarov, a Walther PP/PPK/s, or FEG PA-63, all which should go for at least $200+ on the resale market…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
