Florida Policeman

Florida has some bizarre carry laws, such as no open carry. But there are exceptions if one is hunting, fishing, juggling chipmunks, or whatever other arbitrary thing. So, Florida Carry has a regular event where a bunch of open carry activists go fishing while strapped. Turns out, Florida Policeman was unaware of said law, or didn’t care, and got all pointy with his gun.

The local media, however, made the event sound so peaceful.

And the police were given forewarning:

    Three points:

    1. Miami Beach is not The Fla (my The Fla). It is a foreign country run by foreign administrators and populated primarily by foreigners (using the term in its broad sense of un-American)…much like LA, NYC, or Lexington VA.

    2. The Fla basically pioneered Concealed Carry and in the process negotiated away some things (like Open Carry that had always been legal but rarely used) that didn’t seem important at the time. Big mistake in retrospect; let that be a lesson to all that ALL gun rights are sacrosanct (like stupid bump fire bans that nobody cares about but are a back door to your actual guns) and mighty hard to claw back once relinquished.

    3. Open Carry in this and most contexts is stupid. However, see point 2.

  3. Ron W Says:

Open carry vs concealed carry should be a matter of CHOICE in the exercise of an enumerated Constitutional RIGHT.

  4. rickn8or Says:

“Policeman was unaware of said law…”

Then I suggest, as part of the policeman’s remedial training, he be required to copy out the pertinent FL handgun concealed carry laws 100 times.

“… and if it’s not done by sunrise, I’ll cut your balls off.”

  5. JTC Says:

Ron W, yep…and permission slips be damned.

When CC is universally understood to be an acronym for Constitutional Carry, our work here will be done.

  6. Mike Says:

Why is it that “ignorance of the law is no excuse” for us, but not for police officers?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
