    They didn’t exactly “take” it, because the Brits never had it. Repeat after me: there IS NO free speech in the rest of the world. They do NOT have a First Amendment (or a Second). Some countries, like Britain, have no constitution at all; the government can do whatever they want. Some others have a document claiming to be a constitution but it doesn’t protect your rights, as is the case in Holland. There, you have the right to free speech “subject to everyone’s responsibility under the law”. And the courts are explicitly banned from judging whether any law is constitutional.

    I’m glad I’m a US Citizen now.
