Feds taking gun case to supreme court?
Looks like the feds weren’t happy with the Binderup decision. This is the case challenging making those convicted of a crime punishable by a year or more in jail being barred from gun ownership. Lots of stuff at the link.

Perhaps the only persons who should be barred from gun ownership are those in elected positions of delegated power who want to deny that right to the people.

Scary thing is that the operative word is “punishable”, meaning that even if you were sentenced to less than a year, you still lose your guns rights because you could have gotten a year or more.

I would like to see the data for this DOJ quote about denials under this statute: “section 922(g)(1) is by far the most frequently applied of Section 922(g)’s firearms disqualifications, forming the basis for thousands of criminal prosecutions and tens of thousands of firearm-purchase denials each year”.
Does the federal government even prosecute thousands of criminal prosecutions based on this statute each year. And even if they do, how many prosecutions are brought due to the non-felony max sentence guide.
Lawyer speak is bad, but the government takes it to a whole new level.
