I’m skeptical

A UT (not the UT) police officer’s gun done went off by it’s own self.

Well, it is THAT UT, so it’s possible. It accidentally fired while in the holster. What’s not to believe?

“It is unknown if he was touching the weapon at the time it went off.” [in the holster?]

In other news; police walk on clouds while you are subject to gravity.

The Regents at UT are discussing the rules for the upcoming campus carry. One of the suggested rules was that the CCW’ers be prohibited from carrying with a round in the chamber. Perhaps they ought to extend this to campus police also.

If nothing else, it would be interesting to hear The Only One’s reasons why Israeli carry is a bad idea.

Properly holstered, no pistol should fire. Therefore my guess is that it wasn’t properly holstered and something (his index finger maybe) pressed the trigger.

Some would dispute “not the UT.” 🙂

That being said, I saw this story on the evening news and had the same reaction. I’m skeptical, at the least.

“Police say unintentional discharges happen from time to time; either in training or cleaning of a weapon.”

Heh. Cleaning. They used the C-word. I’ll go out on a limb and say at least 99% of the time you hear that a gun went off while cleaning, it’s a lie.

Anyway, there were three separate traffic accidents in my little area over the weekend, all of which sent people to hospital, some serious, and no one’s talking about those because traffic injuries and deaths are so common. We talk about gun accidents only because the second amendment is under attack, and therefor gun accidents are “news”. They fit the narrative.

I note in passing that the Regents of the University of Texas system are voting in July on rules for concealed carry of handguns by licensed students, faculty, staff and visitors. These rules will take place starting August 01, this year.

One rule they are considering is that all semiauto handguns must NOT have a round chambered (supposedly, until the gun is needed for self defense) for the express purpose of avoiding negligent discharges.

These campus carry rules, which would be more limited than statewide carry rules, were likely going to be cut back sharply by the Regents to avoid lawsuits, especially after a female student was raped & murdered while walking back to her dorm, at night, alone, on campus, by a homeless vagrant this Spring semester.

Sounds like that officer took one for the home team, however inadvertently.

Dude, just admit you pulled the trigger inadvertently. Anything less makes you a liar.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
