Trigger Warning
Three derpy things from SHOT involve odd things with triggers. Not one but two companies have apparently came out with an AR-15 trigger that fires one round when you pull the trigger and fires another round when you reset the trigger. This strikes me as a bad idea. But not the worst idea. That honor would go to a laser activated by putting your finger on the trigger:

… which doesn’t make any of these ideas good.
“Hey, put your finger on the trigger to aim!” is a absolutely terrible idea for reasons nobody should have to explain.
And a trigger that is going to fire again no matter what you do, once you’ve pulled it once, also should not need explaining as to why it’s in Wily Coyote, Supergenius territory.
Nobody’s “eating their own” by pointing out that very bad ideas are very bad ideas.

I don’t see it as a problem. As always, it is training issue.
Sigivald, once the trigger is pulled you have one round fire. If you choose to NOT fire the second round, just put the selector switch back to semi-auto prior to releasing the trigger.
This is not new tech as it has been used for years in shotguns shooting trapp. It’s been around for years.

I have one of those triggers. While I wouldn’t put it on my home defense firearm, it is great fun at the range. I know all of you guys here are all high-speed, low-drag operators operating in operations, so don’t see the need or desire for something to have fun with, but some of us have a bit of disposable income and like to try new toys.

I suspect that this country’s “Law Enforcement” will be scooping up that “laser activated by putting your finger on the trigger” for their standard duty weapon. Gives them another excuse for “accidentally” shooting some unarmed person.

So, very carefully make sure you manipulate a control not designed to be operated while the trigger is being held, to make it not shoot?
Sticking with “bad idea”, though *slightly* less bad.

It’s a matter of training. Know your gun.
It is not hard to do.
However, if you like full auto and don’t want to invest the money required for a registered sear, this is the ticket. It is a very inexpensive fun switch.
You can out run it, but again it’s a training issue.
If not, don’t buy one.

Yeah, 82 years ago some fudd thought a gun that if you hold the trigger down for continuous fire was a bad idea for us peasants. Or a short barrel rifle/shotgun. Which spawned a few more bad ideas today that someone in all their wisdom might consider a fair trade. Not my place to say no. But bootlickers leave that up to the government, don’t they?

I wonder how long it will be before BATFE decides putting that trigger in a gun constitutes converting it into a machine gun. After all, it fires more than one bullet for each pull of the trigger. AFAIK, there is no exception if the second bullet is only fired when releasing the trigger – you pulled it once, and fired two bullets, therefore it meets the definition of a machine gun.
