Police Chief in Uniform Told to Leave Gun Outside Ikea:
In between, he stopped at Ikea to shop for furniture for his daughter’s new apartment. And that’s when a loss-prevention officer at the store approached him.
“He says we have a no firearms policy, and you’re either going to have to leave or you can lock your gun in the car,” Goldberg said.
The store has signs posted on the front door that read “Weapons Free Environment.”

You don’t see the desirable state that open carry foolishness also applies to police? I don’t like open carry, I don’t like “weapons-free-enviroments” because they aren’t.. BUT…
I love that it was applied to an in-uniform officer. I give them a thumbs up for avoiding selective enforcement. They have an idea and they are sticking to it. Good for them.
Really… The same issues with open carry – DO – apply to police. You’d have to be slightly ballsy-er to go for a cop’s gun than you would on some joeblow, but all the same.
I see no issue here.

He’s a Maryland policemen, which means he’d happily enforce any of that state’s blatantly unconstitutional gun laws. Screw him and his department. When I start reading about policemen in anti-gun states resigning or refusing to enforce unconstitutional laws, I’ll start caring about them.

Delighted to see The Man get fucked. On that note, here in VA, I’ve carried openly in Ikea without a hitch. Or maybe their resident assclowns aren’t as observant as the one in MD.

I wonder how soon it will be before the loss prevention officer is stopped for some moving vehicle infraction. Probably not too long.

I detest IKEA the way Unc detests Apple, but this makes me think I might consider the purchase of a Dür or a Hñgghh or whatever should the need ever arise for no other reason than that they told a cop to pound sand and behave like the rest of us “civilians”.

They’ve since clarified that the onliest ones are welcome to OC, and that the “no guns” policy only applies to the unwashed masses.
I think Unk should have included this quote: “And I am not going to lock my gun in a commercial parking lot, with people watching me put it in there. That’s just ludicrous.”

Glad the loss prevention officer didn’t pick and choose who the policy applied to. Now, if the police officer were there in an official capacity (not just uniform – but there doing his job), then I could see where there is an issue. As is, I hope the LP associate gets a commendation.

I go to Ikea from time to time. I assure you, it is most assuredly NOT a weapons free zone, no matter how shiny the one sticker on the door says it is.

No, enforcing a stupid rule does not make it good. Selectively enforcing it would make it even worse.
