Target is weighing banning guns in their stores

Seems that after folks open carrying ARs in their stores and a shoplifter leaving one on the shelf, the management is considering banning firearms at its stores. Now, my family spends a bunch of money at Target. If this happens, we will stop.

You can contact Target at 1-800-440-0680 or email them at Guest.Relations@Target.com.

I suggest making your voice heard.

If they put the gun with red circle up, that is no guns allowed (but CHL allowed), I’m fine with that. I understand their position.

But if they put the 30.06, well then bye-bye.

  2. Seerak Says:

Something is definitely going on here. I’ve been noticing “no firearms” stickers popping up around Las Vegas at businesses that you wouldn’t expect to have issues like this (e.g. my wife’s oncologist office). Perhaps insurance companies being strong-armed “Operation Choke Point” style, to pressure their customers via liability insurance premiums or something?

Fortunately in Nevada, these signs don’t have any extra force of law, but I wouldn’t be too surprised if we suddenly see efforts here and in similar states to add such force. It could be a pretty effective end run around shall-issue CCW to make it very inconvenient to actually carry anywhere.

That and I’m suspicious of false flag/agent provocateur activity in all this. Knowing the chicago way, we’d better keep our eyes open. It may be interesting to get some names and investigate some connections.

Those gunbuster signs have the full weight of the law behind them here in Tennessee.

“Those gunbuster signs have the full weight of the law behind them here in Tennessee.”

    -Not sure if serious.

  6. wizardpc Says:

Serious. It’s a misdemeanor to carry past a “gun in a red circle with a slash through it” in this state since July 1, 2010.

The caveat is that the sign has to be conspicuous–a subjective term not defined in the law.

Don’t forget that Whatts has simply tossed a lot against the wall, and this is what has stuck.

Then add in that she’s gone back to the OCT archives to find pictures of events taken from last year (Like the Smash Burger or the Target) and finally put on the gun left in a Target and you have a perfect opportunity.

  8. Brad Says:

I was planning on buying my next big TV at Target. But not if they screw with us.

  9. KM Says:

Those “Criminal OSHA” signs have force of law behind them in AZ too.

Going to have to check the local Target store and see if it has one posted.

  10. Matthew Carberry Says:

    Jack,

Watts took what was handed to her on a silver platter and wrapped in a big red bow and showed it to an anti-media and uninformed potential customers and voters.

Absent “our sides” idiotic choices this never happens.

  11. Rivrdog Says:

When is an EFFECTIVE pro-2A outfit going to make up a boycott list for us? Can’t do that with a Rolodex, so don’t look for a list from the NRA.

  12. The Jack Says:

Mathew: No disagreement. She found what was giving her traction and kept digging in that rich, rich mine.

  13. JTC Says:

Wifey loves her some Tarjhey; there’re four of ’em within about an hour of us, and we rotate them, her an hour in the store, me an hour in the car with the Sunday Tampa Tribune (the only print media I still read), then it’s dinner out (Longhorn, Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel, or Bahama Breeze depending on which target we’re visiting).

Ever since the their data-gate (fuck-up followed by cover-up), they rarely have an ad insert in the paper, and she says the shelves have been uncharacteristically bare. For a while we thought this might actually take them down, but finally in the last few weeks, both of those situations have improved.

I wonder if it might help their decision-making process to know just how many toters and 2A supporters there are in their customer demographic who are likely to abandon vendors who spit in their faces, as opposed to those who give a rat’s ass what that smarmy lying poor excuse for a mom and her elitist handlers who have never seen the inside of a Target store stand around screaming at them?

I don’t have those stats at hand, but I’m sure somebody here does; let’s include them in emails and phone call sent to the home office.

  14. Mr Evilwrench Says:

You still have a Bahama Breeze local? (jealous) Just wish there was a China Coast somewhere. I would drive to the Peoples’ Republic of Kalifornia for a basket of those rolls with the almond butter. The prison sentence I’d likely incur trying to fly there would still be a dealbreaker, though.

  15. Dragon Says:

Wizard…can you cite the TN Statute that made the red-circle-slash-gun carry the force of law, without the companion posting of the TN Code Annotated? Everyone I’ve spoken to about this says that the circle-slash only give the property owner the right to ask you to leave if they discover that you have a firearm, but that if its accompanied by the TN Annotated code, it is then a criminal violation.

    Here ya go:

  17. JTC Says:

Mr Evil, BB’s clustered around the Mouse, we visit the one on an outparcel of Tarjhey on 192, that’s my favorite for food/drink. But we more often hit the Target, as it were, in north Lakeland, which means Longhorn across the road, then a stop at wife’s fave Rita’s Italian Ice and the backroads through sod fields and cattle country with Sirius 60’s on 6 cranked up as we meander back down to Sebring.

If the planets align the Rascals will croon “groovin’ on a Sunday afternoon” just before we reach home and I know I’m gonna get lucky when we get there.

You can’t script a Sunday better than that, and as much justified bitching as we do about its imperfections, there’s not many places on earth that can match a day like that.

  18. JTC Says:

Um, “five” BB’s cluster around the Mouse.

  19. Bill Says:

In Texas, the only two signs that Target can put that mean anything are the .30-06 sign (no concealed carry) and the “We sell alcohol and you must be licensed to carry in our store” sign. The .30-06 sign keeps out the concealed carry and the alcohol sign stops open carry of long guns. But I don’t know if they sell alcohol cause I think Target is not my kinda store because they don’t sell firearms or ammo. They could have a store employee stand at the door and ask folks carrying long guns to leave. Otherwise they can be charged with trespass.

  20. Chris Says:

I stopped patronizing Target when it decided to exclude the Salvation Army from its stores at Christmas (Winter Holiday, for Targets management).

I was glad to see Target fire Juan Pablo Mantoya after last year, particularly after he hit the jet blow-drier and miraculously missed blowing the man operating it into next week.

I didn’t even know that Target sold guns.

I seldom patronize the globalist crowd.

I don’t eat fast food, unless it’s a local restaurant, I don’t patronize Walmart, Costco, etc.

  21. Paul Says:

Well Bill they can also post a 30.05 sign here in Texas.

The 30.05 sign in Texas is for those who don’t have a CHL. For them to bring a gun, long or short, onto their property it’s a class B misdemeanor.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
