The case for knife rights

A. Barton Hinkle, who some day hopes to be The Barton Hinkle, looks at knife rights:

In any event, Fred unwittingly committed a Class 1 misdemeanor. Virginia’s concealed-weapons law makes it illegal to carry “hidden from common observation” not just firearms but also dirks, bowie knives, switchblades, razors and a variety of more exotic items usually seen only in poorly dubbed martial-arts movies. The list also includes machetes.

Tennessee legalized switch blades? How’d I miss that?

  2. Mr Evilwrench Says:

So did Indiana; now my stilettos are no longer illegal. I think the next legislative challenge will be to legalize poniards.

  3. Paul Kisling Says:

Wait until the antigunners get wind of this. They can be anti kifers too.

  4. Matthew Carberry Says:

The beauty of kniferights is they are currently operating under the banner’s radar. They are getting state preemption of knives like guns, and repealing bans. By the time the anti’s catch on they will have already lost.

If you support *any* gun rights organization you must, for consistency and honor, give kniferights.org your $35 a year. The 2nd Amendment is *not* just about guns.

    Excellent A. Whitney Brown reference!

  6. Oddball Says:

Wildbill: They haven’t yet. The bill is currently sitting on Haslam’s desk waiting to be signed into law. It will also remove the restriction on carry a blade longer than 4″.

    Thanks, Oddball.

    I missed both of them.

I have a farm and a 4″ knife is little help on many occasions.

This is my idea of progressive legislation.

    Ditto for the auto-knives.

Concealed carry of a machete? I would have thought Darwinian selection would have ruled that out already, at least for those trying IWB carry.

    It was in his backpack.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
