Layers of editorial oversight

The tracking point system is dangerous because “There are a handful of snipers who can hit a target at 1,000 yards. But now, anybody can do it“.

Well, if their job title is actually sniper, I’m guessing it’s probably all of them. And, you know, several people I know. MY GOD I KNOW ALL THE WORLD’S SNIPERS AND MORE!

Cracked also had a PSH article this week.

    Hippie tears, so hilarious.

  2. David Says:

Heck, I’ve hit stuff at 920 yards. I don’t think the extra 80 yards would be that much more of a challenge.

  3. Skip Says:

    1k with a puny .308, easy peasy.

  4. KevinM Says:

    I’m with Skip.

.308 to ~1100 using Black Hills 175gr bthp match out of my silenced AI AE. 3-10.5 vari-x 4 LR.

I’d have rung 20 bells before they got that contraption set up.

And I know plenty of folks who shoot circles around me. Hell I know plenty of women who shoot circles around me.

I’m sure that Bloomie has read enough blogs about precision rifle shooting to start realizing that “one shot, one kill” shooters at extreme range is far more threatening than a room full of mall ninjas with ARs.

I suspect we’ll see his response soon. Buy those uber-optics while you still can.

  6. Dave Says:

lol. funny, i know all the worlds snipers too. and more.

  7. Gerry Says:

    Two words: Camp Perry

Journalists amaze me in their willful, blind ignorance. They act like the art of shooting, ballistics and firearm capabilities are a dark science, only entrusted to anointed masters and shared to chosen agents of the State.

I’m not even impressed by the gun. It’s a gimmick. And it only works with their gun, their system and their ammunition. Go to a gun store to get new ammo and you’ll be pissed at the company for selling you a crap, broken gun. Of course, the moron shelling out $27K for this thing likely either knows little about shooting and will happily pay them for their custom matched ammo or is simply after the “cool factor” with money to burn.

Anyone can become a “sniper”. As others have stated “Camp Perry”, NRA Highpower, Palma or my preference: F-Class. Nothing a good stock Remington 700, a good $500 fixed power scope and a few hundred rounds of match .308 to get started can’t fix. That will get you on the paper with practice. Then spend money as needed to get really, scary good.

Morons. They’d crap themselves if they saw what regular folks on a 600 or 1000 yard line can pull off. I can pull off 400-600 yard shots off the bipod on factory ammo with a 100 year old M96 and crap glass. It’s not that hard.

  9. Ohio Shawn Says:

I agree. My Savage 308 can hit 1000 yards even with me behind the scope, and I’m a crap shooter at those ranges. Now, if the computer were inside the bullets and they followed a laser to their target…I might be impressed. This rifle is a gimmick and so expensive they are only going to sell a handful of them.

Yet another example of the anti-gun rule: If it is any kind of gun or anything associated with a gun, it must be banned because it can be called a bad thing.

Your scoped hunting rifle is a sniper rifle, your .380 Ruger LCP is a too-easily concealed pistol suitable for criminal use.

And anything in between is bad, too.

  11. SPQR Says:

Scoped rifle? Heck, wait til they read off the rear sight gradations on my mil surp rifle …

  12. Mu Says:

So it automatically adjusts for the bullet drop. Now if it came with windspeed meters every 100 yards to the target…

  13. Jay G. Says:

    Gerry, one word: Boomershoot.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
