Mark Ridley-Thomas: The National Rifle Association Is Correct: I Do Want Your Guns

Come and get them:

Let’s stop mincing words; Let progressives — not all but certainly many — stop feigning tolerance for a gun culture we abhor and rampant gun ownership we cannot comprehend.

But tolerance is good, lefties tell me. Points for honesty though.

  1. Bubblehead Les Says:

Yeah, let’s all Disarm and Live in Peace with one another. And it’s only the Big, Bad Evil NRA that’s preventing a Utopia from happening.

Right. Just like it was the Big Bad Evil Ronald Reagan who kept us from being in a World Without Nuclear Weapons.

Tell it to the next 19 year old College Girl who gets Kidnapped, Raped and Murdered all because she’s Prevented under FEDERAL LAW from buying a LCP to carry with her on Campus. Oh, that’s right. No Guns Allowed in Schools. Sorry.

  2. Divemedic Says:

LOL. He says that we should preach nonviolence like Ghandi and MLK. Weren’t both of them killed by people more inclined to commit violent acts?

  3. NotClauswitz Says:

Shows just how small minded they really are when they hate and seek to destroy that which they are simply unable to comprehend.

  4. Geodkyt Says:

Nonviolent reistence only works when facing a civilized opponant who shares your regard for avoiding unnecessary harm to others, OR when teh likely harm you will suffer is outweighed by the EFFECT of witnissing that harm will to others who have the power to stop your opponant.

Both Ghandi and Dr. King understood that applied in their particular cases.

  5. Kristophr Says:

    Hypocrite bigots.

They want the police to do their jack-booted thuggery for them, while bleating “Peace!”.

  6. Mr Evilwrench Says:

How does keeping, and even bearing, arms contradict peacefulness? I’m a very peaceful person. I could get nose to nose with someone in a debate, but he’d be safer with me there than without me. Just because I have the tool to visit violence on someone doesn’t mean I’m violent. Some people need to reevaluate their premises.

  7. mikee Says:

Conflating defensive violence and criminal violence is par for the course of those who cannot understand that less “gun violence” yet more total criminal violence is a bad thing.

  8. Geodkyt Says:

    Evilwrench:

    Agreed.

Personally, I abhor violence. I am, however, very good at it.

I also feel defensive violence against predators less distasteful than the consequences of abstaining from defensive violence.

  9. Mick Havoc Says:

Who is going to do this? The meatless mincing putz who wrote this?
I was a big-city cop for 28 years, 20 of them as a supervisor or commander. If I ordered the officers to go door to door to pick up guns, half would call in sick and the other half would be wrestling me into a straitjacket.
Maybe Jug-Eared Jesus the Mocha Messiah will send the New Black Panthers or MS-13. Nobodys gonna resist THAT! (snark)

  10. comatus Says:

I think the best way to trivialize the memory of Gandhi (Ghandi, Gahndi, Gandih) is to continue spelling his name wrong. He deserves it.

Notice how you never see Mhartin Lhuther Khing?

  11. Knotthead Says:

I wonder if this guy is invested in the company developing the new and improved version of G-23 Paxilon Hydrochlorate.

  12. RC Says:

I saw what you did there. Did you know that PAX also came from an earlier story by Edward Lewellyn-Thomas?

  13. Knotthead Says:

Did not know that. Not surprising, though, that the concept had been used before.

  14. Sid Says:

    Knotthead,

In the words of Mal: Sure as I know anything, I know this – they will try again. Maybe on another world, maybe on this very ground swept clean. A year from now, ten? They’ll swing back to the belief that they can make people… better. And I do not hold to that. So no more runnin’. I aim to misbehave.

  15. SDN Says:

And based on comments by Joss Whedon and Nathan Fillion, Mal would shoot both of them.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
