Anti-gunners blink

Mostly, not been much anti-gun stuff at the federal level for a while. But now, Trayvon’s law looks to dictate to states what their criminal statutes should be:

House Democrats said Tuesday they will offer an amendment to push to overturn stand-your-ground self-defense laws in states like Florida.

And this: ‘Shoot-first’ laws have already cost too many lives. In Florida alone, deaths due to self-defense have tripled since the law was enacted. That means it’s working, Moron.

And Obama says he’d veto the Rehberg Amendment, which blocks ATF from implementing multiple sales reporting.

They see more people defending themselves from criminal attackers as a bad thing. ’nuff said.

    Anti-Rights, Pro-Criminal.

Lincoln said something about fooling all the people some of the time, some of the people all the time, but not being able to fool all the people all the time.

I think this blood-dance is a case where the number of people fooled is very small indeed.

  3. Weer'd Beard Says:

    Yep Self Defense is bad.

Also so much for the anti-rights goons being the champions of “States Rights”.

They seem to only support State laws that ban guns.

  4. JKB Says:

Okay, no politician used to want to be seen as soft on crime soft on crime

But now a Thug Protection Act?

No self defense for you, law abiding citizens, criminals deserve a safe work environment.

  5. JKB Says:

This reminds me of a joke that came out of a GAO report on collective bargaining rights.

Seems, according to the GAO, besides management, one of the largest groups that currently don’t have collective bargaining rights is independent contractors.

No, really, that is an official conclusion from an official government report.

  6. NLR Says:

OK by me if they want to go that route. All it means is we use the 10th Amendment as a large, sharp-edged suppository. Which could lead to a whole bunch of other 10A issues being brought up. Inconvenient while we’re fighting it, and expensive, but if they’re stupid enough to open that door, I don’t mind slamming it on their fingers.

  7. Bubblehead Les Says:

Unpossible! Everyone KNOWS that the Obama Administration won’t try to Impose Gun Control!

That is, if Romney wins in November.

  8. chris Says:

I agree with you, Unc., that the tripling of the number of deceased perps shows that the law is working, not that there is a problem with it.

  9. Aaron Says:

“Trayvon” Amendment was withdrawn as the Dems were warned it was out of order.

Not only are they grandstanding idiots as the constitutionality of such fund withholding on such disparate areas is questionable, but they’re not very effective grandstanding idiots.

  10. Scott Ganz Says:

Regarding the alleged “tripling”, I think there’s a much more mundane explanation. I attended a firearms and the law lecture and we had an assistant DA as a speaker. He said, basically, that most self-defense shootings are never officially “justified” by the DA’s office, but that unless something about the shoot raises a red flag, they simply decline to prosecute. My guess is that while the overall number of shootings hasn’t risen dramatically, many more of them can be officially sanctioned as justified.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
