Disarming poor people is OK!

So rules a federal judge in NY who thinks that the $340 doesn’t deter people from getting a gun. I think NY should start charging that fee to vote.

He said courts have approved significantly higher fees, citing a ruling that permitted a $3,000 adult business license fee.

What a twit. Last time I checked, there wasn’t an explicit right to operate an adult business in the constitution.

What’s the Pay Scale for a Federal Judge? Perhaps he needs to Work behind the Counter at a NYC Starbucks and realize that Money doesn’t grow on Trees, in spite of what Obama thinks.

  3. HL Says:

$340 to excercise a right is not an unreasonable barrier, but requiring an ID to vote is.

I am not sure why we are shocked. The decision as to whether the government has the authority to force a citizen to buy a product against their will is about to come down to one American’s vote tomorrow.

  4. HL Says:

Les, I am sure it is heft in NYC. A public school teacher there makes $100k a year.

    Time for some Munro Williams.

‘In the same way I prefer black coffee and straight whiskey, I prefer fascism in its undiluted Japanese state, as it makes no pretenses of regarding the individual intrinsically valuable.’ — Munro Williams

Their hand is showing more and more. When they get a chance to rule, they intend to rule fully.

    Les,

Money does grow on trees for Obama. The trees look like productive people and they smell like work.

Better yet, charge $340 for a permit to get an abortion.

  7. Eric Says:

According to No Lawyers, only Guns and Money, Nassau County on Long Island is the ONLY NY county allowed to charge more than $10 for the permit.

Note that Nassau County also has a DA that forbids anyone in the DA’s office from possessing a handgun, and in fact asks on the application for employment if the applicant has ever owned a handgun or had a license to carry.

    What a hell hole.

  8. Ruth Says:

I live in NY state, next county west of me the fee (not counting the required safety course) is $300 ($50 just to pick up the paperwork).

  9. Aaron Says:

As I understand it, that’s also the fee to *re-register* guns that are already on the books.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
