Rule 5: Do not try to catch a dropped gun.

Yeah, I’ve gone on at length about that. And this is why:

Patrick Von Hall said he was carrying his .38 revolver in a holster Monday afternoon when he went inside the restaurant’s restroom. As he was leaving the stall, his revolver fell onto the floor. When it hit the ground, it fired.

I’m betting not. I’m guessing he tried to catch it and his booger-hook hit the bang-switch. I could be wrong but I really doubt it.

You could be right, but there are a lot of .38’s out there from the days before transfer bars.

I was hoping the establishment in which he was dining would give some insight. If it were some place like Scotties
we would know it was on old revolver. But Cracker Barrel could go either way, really.

I’m with HL. “Accidentally” firing a revolver by trying to catch it seem more difficult to believe than “it landed on the hammer and discharged.” If you carry an old wheelgun, keep an empty chamber under the hammer.

My guess is that he was playing with it. Booger-hook, bang-switch, BANG! THEN he dropped it.

After succeeding in catching a “tactical knife” at Guncraft about 10 years ago and deeply cutting a finger, I ceased trying to catch dangerous implements.

My primary carry gun (on my body, as opposed to in my car) is a Taurus 7 round 38 special, but I certainly wouldn’t try to catch it if I dropped it.

I carry Glocks in my cars.

“I carry Glocks in my cars.”

I’d like a car revolver, and a pistol for my belt. The revolver for the car, because hot brass flying around in an enclosed space makes me nervous.

    What kind of revolver?

Newer makes are just about impossible to fire unless the trigger is pulled fully to the rear.

Might have been an and Titan or RG or ROHM, or even an old top break S&W, Iver Johnson, or H&R.

    It surely wasn’t a SP101 or S&W 642 or anything like that.

  6. TIM Says:

Impossible here in CALI.!!!!!Thanks to limiting are selection of hand guns with the drop test.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
